Former Employee – worked at RGP
Pros – You were on your own to pursue your book of business.
Cons – No training, no overall business objectives as a consultative organization but more an expensive temp agency - can't compete with their market strategy - high end temps
Advice to Senior Management – Get a better business strategy and align it across all your people globally

Current Employee – been working at RGP as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – It's a consulting role based on hourly rate but they provide full benefits, including medical insurance, 401(k), employee stock options etc. So you have the liberty of working on different assignments whiel having sense of working like a regular employee
Cons – Downtime may be more than desired but most of the fellow consultants I talked with remain busy with assignments for more then 10 years.
Advice to Senior Management – I think management is doing pretty well.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at RGP full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Work with great companies, high quality talent, great alternative to either consulting on your own or working with a temp firm. Offers flexibility and allows the consultant to pick and choose their assignmens
Cons – You need to be committed to the business model. There is no pay for time in between projects and depending on the office, you could be on the bench for a while.
Advice to Senior Management – Offer several different employment options for consultants. Maybe higher hourly rate in lieu of medical benefits?

Current Employee – been working at RGP as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – Variety of assignments. Ability to preview companies you might consider working for directly. Focus is on accomplishing tasks, not becoming involved in office politics. Take assignments that truly fit your skills. Paid by the hour, and overtime is time and a half. We all work long hours, by in consulting, you are compensated for them.
Cons – Down time between assignments can be longer than desired. Some people in the client organization may feel threatened by the presence of a consultant - the "why does management think we need you" mind set. of course, insecure people are going to be insecure with their fellow employees as well.
Advice to Senior Management – RGP is a great company to work for! They look for experienced talent, who want to work. No young college kids trying to figure out what they want to be when (if) they grow up.

Current Employee – been working at RGP full-time for more than a year
Pros – Variety of projects at good companies. Great work-life balance, most projects are 40 hrs per week. Really good for someone who doesn't need to rely on full time income.
Cons – Great if you are a self starter and independent - the client service directors who place you in the jobs rarely check in with you unless there is a problem. There is favoritism, you are more likely to be placed if you are in good with the client service directors. Not much opportunity for advancement. Often longer periods of time between projects than you'd like.

Former Employee – worked at RGP as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – They act on the consultants behalf to ensure a good fit between the individual and client. I had interesting projects and felt like a valued contributor. My professional experience was recognized and respected.
Cons – Like any consulting role, especially in the economy at that time, there would be some down time between assignments But I always felt that they were looking for opportunities to match my background.

Current Employee – been working at RGP as a contractor for more than 3 years
Pros – Blue chip clients, good hourly rate, work life balance, interesting colleagues
Cons – RGP charges higher hourly rates than other service providers such as RHI and on the other end Big 4 has been cutting rates to compete in the more crowded middle/hybrid consultant/interim roles. The result is longer time on the bench for consultants which is unpaid.
Scoping meetings with clients are not paid.
No visibility into what in the pipleline - Client Service Managers are perceived to play favourites
Advice to Senior Management – Figure which space you want to compete. Create a 'blue ocean' space to stand out (that's your job to figure it out). More communication and transparency over the business plan and client works in the pipleline.

Former Employee – worked at RGP full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Their unique busiess model, comprised of seasoned industry professionals who enjoy consulting and project project. Assignments are of reasonable duration, internal champions work closely with consultants to maintain continunitity between assignments. Salary is competitive and good benefits.
Cons – Can feel disconnected from the firm if at a client too long; should establish more frequent and scheduled contact with consultant in the field. These contacts should not be on the "consultants time" .
Advice to Senior Management – Host more frequent regional office in-person meetings vs. on-line thereby bringing all consultants together from time to time.
