I have been working at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

RIT has great benefits to take advantage of! Free tuition for employees, 403B matching and Excellent healthcare. They also encourage personal growth through quick classes that can be taken at any time.

    Cons

Professional growth at RIT is slow mainly because of high competition. Hourly Pay/Salaries are low compared to other companies and since people tend to stay in the same position for years and year, they tend to become stagnant and not very innovative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase compensation in order to attract higher quality employees. Encourage use of free tuition with staff and give more incentives to take classes. Give people a reason to love their jobs by empowering them more.

I have been working at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

1 to 1 tutoring, time is flexible. The supervisor is really nice. Have an appreciation dinner once a year.

    Cons

Since it is an on campus job, the salary is only $10/hour. Some students will always change the meeting time in the last minute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As a tutor, I don't know who else is tutoring for HEOP. It would be better if tutors can meet up once every semester, sharing experience.

I worked at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very down to earth people. Many are concerned with improving academia and producing good value for current and future students.

    Cons

Can get disorganized a bit. Unless you know the right people, your voice might be lost into the ether. Stable working environment where you can make a decent college-level hourly pay and still finish all your classwork.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to students and faculty. Feel any emotion, love, hate -- but never feel apathy about the job.

    Pros

You'll learn a lot about audio and lighting equipment. The people are great to work with no matter the job you're on. Really just a fun place to be. They have no problem paying overtime. Also, the training is great.

    Cons

The pay is sub par to say the least. The hours can be terrible when you're doing a concert or something.

Lots of great collaborators to work with if you play all the politics

    Cons

Middle management can't move or see any larger picture, many people in the middle throw road blocks towards students and each other
