A stressful, demoralizing place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsOpportunity to work with talented colleagues, wonderful people.

ConsSalaries delayed for as much as 3-4 months on regular basis. Health insurance cancelled (without notice) several times - 2011 and 2012. No supplies - sometimes no plotter, no copier paper, or copier, toner. Staff stranded overseas due to nonpayment of hotel bills. Evicted from office once. 401k payments, transit pretax payments, health savings funds not remitted to vendor.

Advice to Senior ManagementSell the business to professionals who are architects. Pay your employees and vendors in full.

    Unfortunate Times

Project Architect (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsInteresting International work. There was allot of positive things to talk about with the firm before the 2008 crash. Highly Focus on invoicing and receiving billables

ConsThe pay and benefits are very unstable at the present time. Staff have gone with weeks and a few times months without pay. Company does not pay consultants which leads to difficulties with project deadlines. All of the talented staff has left the firm or are motivated to find positions with other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management needs to learn to communicated better with staff.

Lots of potential here, but many ways that it could be better

Design Architect (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsFriendly, supportive environment. A great group of very talented architects. You will learn a lot by working here. A diverse mix of projects both in type and scale and region. Great views from the 24th floor.

ConsThe office is riding on the success of previous projects. The bulk of projects are from the Hillier legacy. Continuing financial pressures and an overall lack of leadership to ride out the 2nd recession of 2011.

Architect I (Current Employee) Princeton, NJ

    Prosnice co-workers; nice town (Princeton)

ConsSometimes the promotions seem quite unfair and capricious. Employee's talents and efforts are not always recognized. Agree with the previous comment on the "British" part.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat everyone fairly. Pay your dues.

    Design Architect (Former Employee)

ProsHave a great work ethic towards projects that i've never scene in other large scale offices. Project types may vary; however, they are on a large scale and give you the opportunities to express your own designs and ideas to clients.

ConsLarge scale offices such as rmjm, tend to have problems promoting and recognizing people's efforts on projects.
