Former Employee – worked at RNC

ProsThe RNC gave freedom to work as if I was a mini-entrepreneur within the organization - as long as I stayed on message of course.

ConsThe organization is still gleaning of the 90's and it doesn't feel like its on the up and up and quite in today's culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey really should focus more on making the place feel younger - it has this old "Republican" feel and doesn't lend itself to a "nice atmosphere."

Prosthe people at the RNC are wonderful, caring, and creative. You will learn a lot about partisan politics and the way the Hill operates if you decide to intern there.

ConsThe only downside is not getting paid! It can be really expensive to live in DC, but fortunately they are very flexible with the hours you need to work (aka you can get another part-time job if you need extra money).

Advice to Senior ManagementHonestly, the office needs more lighting. It can be a little dour in the basement at times, especially during the summer. Also, just continue to engage interns! I loved the lunches, being able to speak to whoever I wanted to about how they got to where they are, and everything I learnt from my peers.
