    Pros

    Great people, there is almost always someone there to help you when you have questions. They tend to usually work the schedule around other commitments that employees have except during during busy season

    Cons

    They do not pay attention to problems that arise between employees and management at times and sometimes management involves itself in the problem and makes it worst. They are not big on seniority as the company has fired people that have worked here for more then 8 years. And it's a very repetitive job with little to no chance of moving up in the company

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to the problems that people have in the comany. Make it easier for people to raise problems that they may be having by ensuring that managers act as managers and not trying to make problems worst for employees.

    Pros

    Plenty of work as they continue to reduce headcount.

    Cons

    RSA no longer treats its employees as well as it used to poorer pension and redundancy packages, its bonus system is not fare and is asked in favour of senior management

    Advice to Management

    You like to say treat the customer fairly but how about treating your workers fairly.

    It's not all about cutting costs, if you want quality you have to pay for it. Think long term and see things through

    Pros

    Flex time, choice of contributable benefits

    Cons

    Not the caring company it used to be. Cutting everything back. Expecting employees to take more and more work on without the extra support/training.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in systems and not put in work arounds. Company needs several good systems. Speak to people who are doing the job and don't make decisions based on assumption on what and how it is done.

    Pros

    Flexible / agile working. Smart offices. Group or 'GCC ' is forward thinking with a bit more money behind it.

    Cons

    Hierachal 'if your face fits' environment. No transparency, senior management empire build and highly political environment due to matrix reporting and conflicting strategy / resources. Zero spend on investment in people of late. Just before I left there was a ban on all travel, all expense claims, colour printing. You name it, it wasn't allowed. L&D even outsourced to save money. 2014 saw a mass exodus of the best senior people from all divisions.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to what your people are telling you, at all levels, not just senior management. Be more transparent in your interactions and honest in your communications about the current situation.

    Pros

    Flex time and good people

    Cons

    No investment in the staff. Simply not enough staff to deliver a good service. The management do not appreciate the complexity of the work and that it is the experience in the decision making that makes an underwriting profit. Team leaders with absolutely no insurance knowledge whatsoever making impossible demands. Computer systems not fit for purpose. No time to develop yourself. Distinct lack of experienced staff due to them being made redundant and replaced by brand new starters on poor salaries.

    Advice to Management

    Your staff are your greatest asset. Engage with them and treat them with some humanity as you used to do. Employing the cheapest staff does not give the best service and stop this ridiculous outsourcing it does not work. Stop looking at numbers. Learn first hand about the work itself you will be surprised as to what is actually involved and stop involving outside Consultants who know nothing about the insurance industry. Stop being reactive and taking such a long time to replace staff who have left to go and work for other insurers for more money. Apply some common sense and not the current blinkered mentality.
