Pros
RSA Security is full of super intelligent and talented people. Employee's work hard and play hard. The culture is for individuals who are super competitive and whom like to travel and work with the best technologies.
Cons
Close nit community, lot's of competition in the market segment, creating very little room for error. If you happen to lose confidence in your colleagues, you might as well start looking for another job.
Pros
Exciting atmosphere, stable management team, great benefits, great brand.
Cons
Not everyone gets to go to the conference!
Advice to Senior Management
Doing great, not much to add at this time. Management is very inspiring to work for, great people.
Pros
Interesting technology that continues to evolve to include support for the latest technology. Employees are very supportive and open about sharing help and information.
Cons
Upper management is changing since the purchase of RSA by EMC. Not enough support for Career growth or career development. Not equal funding of training for all employees.
Pros
Great technology and products
many really talented and bright people
good salary and benefits
innovation is encouraged
good in house training
Cons
Too much politics
Priority given to manager power interests over needs of the customer
Incompetent people put in some supervisory positions and then good people leave
Long drawn out hiring process
Inconsistency between how departments and groups are run - some good and some bad
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and see what is going on...
Pros
stability, great brand, interesting technology, career track
Cons
frustrating decision making process
culture after EMC acquisition has not settled
Advice to Senior Management
Stop being reactive and become proactive
Pros
work load is not too heavy
Cons
the management is lack of knowledge
Advice to Senior Management
pay more attention to the people who did good job
Pros
Good brand recognition. Challenging problems - helps to understand how to work in a distributed global organization. Learn about process to get a large organization moving in the right direction.
Cons
HQ is Boston - all decisions are made in Boston. Not that useful if you live in Silicon Valley. Don't quite "get" Silicon Valley culture.
Advice to Senior Management
Think global
Pros
I felt that management was very dynamic, not stuck in their own old ways. They were innovative and looking to the future. They were interested in what their emloyees wanted from their careers and to getting them into new areas as well.
Cons
Sometimes management jumped a little too quickly into new innovations that were not "winners". This caused a lot of shifting around. Our group however was pretty insular, so my experience may have been unique. The company is very siloed and you don't have much insight into the rest of the groups without doing your own networking.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to create a sense of company. You need to bring the groups together maybe by having townhalls regularly.
Pros
Fair work life balance
Stability after EMC purchase
Great Environment to learn in
Friendly Engineers
Growing company is getting better
Cons
Highly Political
In order to survive, must have good manager to defend and promote you.
Salary could be much better
Some very difficult managers
Advice to Senior Management
Promote meritocracy over nepotism
Pros
Bedford MA is probably a good place to have a career at RSA. The brandname is very strong. Some products are world class.
Cons
Its a part of a big company. So things move slowly. Pay scale leaves a lot to be desired too.
Advice to Senior Management
There need to be more opportunities for personal growth, options are not worth much. Other than the brand name there isn't much in the package .
