Pros
Relaxed work atmosphere combined with clear productivity goals. The people are all very nice and helpful.
Cons
It isn't quite clear just who is in charge/who you need to talk to for approval.
Pros
Good atmosphere. Growing company. Market leader. Opportunity within emc
Cons
Product only. Needs better integration with emc. Hard to find win-win projects where both rsa and emc reps get paid
Advice to Senior Management
Better use of metrics
Pros
the work life balance is good . Lot of talented people are there in rsa . good environment over all. they pay good salary .
Cons
not much growth after some time .few people on senior positions do nothing and draw huge salary . they should be removed.
Advice to Senior Management
few people on senior positions do nothing and draw huge salary . they should be removed. over all management is good. Should invest on innovation.
Pros
Brand recognition
Network contact with SME's
Cons
Staffing decimated in critical areas
Apart from SecurID, products are legacy technology
Unstable platform
Marketing drives product development
Advice to Senior Management
Re-purpose some research minds to product development
Pros
Good compensation, provided with idiot work
Cons
Bad work and bad work culture
Advice to Senior Management
Provide good projects and not lame and stupid
Pros
The people are caring and compassionate. They really like what they do. Communication is good and makes for a great atmosphere.
Cons
Cons are a lack of flexibility in hours for personal life and work balance. Distance between work groups makes work difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
I would advise more team meetings between departments to keep people closer together in terms of communication. This includes communication between upper level management and workers.
Pros
Talent is recognized and utilized. Middle management is improving and actively finding ways to support employees. For what may be the first time in my career, work ethic and skill are the focus of management, rather than political gamesmanship. Management has positions to fill, which we desperately need, but they won't fill the position unless they find a reasonably skilled individual. Benefits are top notch.
Cons
Understaffed. Not sufficient resources, but this is improving. More training is needed, as well as more equipment.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing. Things are improving. Don't punish the middle management - they are doing a fantastic job.
Pros
Freedom to work as an autonomous unit
Compensation and benefits were decent
Recognition program provided opportunities to augment regular salary
SecurId is golden goose that continues to lay golden eggs
Cons
Upper management lacks a coherent vision
Direction and goals are not passed down clearly
Management does not recognize the real value of employees and smaller projects
Corporate bureaucracy hampered progress and innovation
Advice to Senior Management
Develop a decent long-term plan, break that down into specific goals for each functional area, then task the teams to execute that plan. The plan doesn't have to be perfect, but there needs to be a vision. The plan and details can always be revised annually as things change. Also, you desperately need to improve your financial accounting -- I don't think you have any usable metrics to really know how profitable (or unprofitable) specific projects really are. Too much of the details are obfuscated by accounting practices that do not give a clear picture of the value of each product.
Pros
Cutting edge technology, good group efforts
Cons
very long hours, not connected to EMC as we should be
Advice to Senior Management
bring more EMC visibility into the company
Pros
RSA Security is full of super intelligent and talented people. Employee's work hard and play hard. The culture is for individuals who are super competitive and whom like to travel and work with the best technologies.
Cons
Close nit community, lot's of competition in the market segment, creating very little room for error. If you happen to lose confidence in your colleagues, you might as well start looking for another job.
