    Pros

Solid quota performance for many years. Numbers are rarely unattainable.

    Cons

Some dead weight and distraction in the product set that needs to get cleaned up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus, don't keep products that are past their prime.

I have been working at RSA Security full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to learn and develop new skills; Interesting products; Competitive salaries; management tries hard to be receptive to employee needs. Many department gatherings with food, beer & wine.

    Cons

Too many management shakeups. Political terminations are not unusual. Questionable worker terminations have happened as well. Product training is not always a priority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Organizational stabilty should be a priority.

I worked at RSA Security full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible working schedules. No problem working from home. Compensation about average. Salary is divided between base and bonus. Some managers think the bonus is automatic and some don't. Company says it is not automatic.

    Cons

Any long term plan is abandoned at first sign of difficulty. EMC (parent company) seems to manage resources (i.e., people) on a quarter-to-quarter basis: layoffs are frequent. Lots of management politics. New products are not bringing in the revenue of the old standby - SecurID - and even that product in bringing in less and less. Always lots of talk of EMC selling RSA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lots of talk, little action. A dearth of good _managers_ .

    Pros

Good EMC benefits programs and reasonable pay

    Cons

RSA is in a sad state. the company is in a thriving market but the leadership is incompetent and the employees don't care anymore. layoffs are conducted every 6 months and the turnover of employees and leaders is insane. vp for engineering has joined from Symantec that thinks he is better than everyone else at the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At least pretend to care about the employees

I worked at RSA Security full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The pay scales are decent and in line with its competition. There are very competent and talented hard-working people working for RSA at the mid-level.

    Cons

The company culture for most of RSA is one managed by fear and firefighting. Goals, planning and direction flip/flop at the whim of management and are driven by numbers and little else. People go unrecognized and don't figure into the company culture equation and it shows. There is no investment in talent. Don't plan on getting ahead or getting recognized for a job well-done unless you have an in with someone. Business units are isolated and not aligned to each other's goals. If you're evaluating RSA against other similar options, consider the options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people. Take a look at other company models. Even the most antiquated company cultures invest more in employees than RSA.

    Pros

Great opportunity to start in the field. I started with about three years IT experience and developed some great skills over the last several years as a trusted expert in the field

    Cons

Feels like the direction of the company is uncertain. It seems that acquisitions drive the vision vs the vision driving acquisitions.

I worked at RSA Security full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great products and brand. The compensation is very competitive and there are a lot of ways to recognize good performance. Benefits are great.

    Cons

Life-work Balance can be hard to maintain on jobs that involve travel.
Career opportunities are limited, most managers are overwhelmed by the amount of people reporting to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support of your products needs to be as much of a priority as selling is. Different sides of the organization seem to have conflicting visions.
