Pros
Marquee name.
Good salary / benefits.
Still some great people working there, smart, talented
Nice office space.
Tuition reimbursement.
EMC University classes offer a lot of opportunity for personal growth if you can get classes funded by your management.Cons
Currently sustained by the history of a strong brand, not producing product well for the past few years. Slow development cycles, bloated projects, painful meetings, process ignored when convenient AND process for the sake of process. One thing matters: the date. Cut corners, skip things, slave drive the team, all for the date. Did it matter if we built the wrong thing or something that doesn't satisfy the business or the customer? Probably not. Zero communication, duplicated work, square pegs shoved into round holes. So much potential, such a great brand, squandered.
Advice to Senior Management
Everyone fails now and again, so admit when we fail, your team already knows we failed, not admitting it makes you look at best inept, at worst a self serving liar. Admitting failure is also required to figure out why so it is not repeated.
Communicate and adhere to a plan. Sometimes (rarely) you get the first part, but I have yet to see the second.
Agile is not the answer to your prayers. Learn to follow a process before you switch processes. This review is just a sneak peek. Want to see all reviews on Glassdoor?
