Pros
Fun product line and that's it.

Too many items and services being pushed on customers. Lack of advertising. Company constantly makes it harder to reach sales goals. DM and upper management get rewarded for sales performance while the associates get little or no bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
ADVERTISE. Better compensation for sales associates that perform. Adverage hour pay in my store is around $10 an hour.

Always on call, days off very rare, job always being threatened, position always threatened, difficult to get good help from support numbers

Expectation need to be set crystal clear from the get go and not constantly changing with very little to no notice.

Horrible management, No praise whatsoever, if your not high up you get treated like crap.

Take some pride in your associates considering they do all the work for the company any how. Also when a employee has been there for years bending over backwards for your company maybe you should give some respect. Another point I have is if your going to tell an employee that there transfer went through and the employee gets to the new location just to find out that the transfer never went through and the employee is out of a job. Very disappointing...
Pros
Its minimum wage plus commission. One can expect average pay to be $10-$12 an hour on an average paycheck. which is more than most entry level retail jobs. Your job is to sell contract cell phones which is how you will make your money. If you make friends with the boss or DM you can get promoted.
Cons
You get paid every 2 weeks. Managers put way too much pressure on associates to sell cell phones. You will get yelled at or questioned for 30 minutes whenever you sell a prepaid phone. You may get a new manager who thinks he knows everything and treats people lke they are stupid and not trying to sell. Managers only promote their buddies or people who share the same interests or kiss the district manager's butt. A top salesman may be stuck at a dead end job for not being a fan of a certain sport or liking a TV show. Management and co-workers can change as quickly as the seasons depending on who gets promoted or fired. expect new people ever 2-3 months f you can produce and last that long.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to sell more cell phones try adverting as people don't go there for phones. Stop berating your employees for missed opportunities and lost possible sales. Don't beat someone up for selling a prepaid phone its still money in the bank albeit less. Not everyone wants or needs a 2 year contract. Promote people based on sales performance and not friendship or brown nosing. Also when you move around managers to other stores make sure they understand the clientele and demographics.

Management is a bunch of hypocrites.
Have an issue foget it management will just calm you down or threaten your job.
No training no one knows how to manage and then the unknowledgable managers teach you on what to do to. What a joke.

Get managers with real training. When promoting associates give them proper training. Also listento your people when they come to you with problems
Pros
Radio Shack is a solid company with a proven track record. The books look good to investors, but the model needs some improvement to maintain a place in the market.
Cons
Most employees in the field suffer the mandatory 6-day work week. Saturdays are typical in retail, but not have any real quality of life is the standard at RS.
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to look at the cost of doing business when it comes to employee turnover. RS becomes more attractive to prospective employees only when there is a work/life balance.
Pros
The pay was nice on those days you could actually sell things. Compared to some other sales jobs the money literally walks up to you.
Cons
Customers seem to think RadioShack is a place of free advice and technical service/installment when they purchase a product that is from a competitor. In other words, where Best Buy Geek Squad agent might get $14 an hour and charge him/her for advice, they will ask you the question and expect you to know the answer for free.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop putting all the work to the sales associates and take lead like a manager should. Getting paid to work from the back isn't fair. And leads to a negative environment.

If you work hard to sell you can make a lot of money in spiffs. Managers have monthly reviews with employees to give you your strong and weak points.

They do start at min. wage for part timers which is pretty impossible to make money off of in this economy.

If you can sell a lot of cell phones, then you can make some decent pay for a minimum wage job.

Pretty much everything else. If you aren't at a location that does a lot of cell phone sales, then your pay will be terrible, and you will have little chance at advancing to a better location because the company only promotes people who sell a lot of cell phones. It doesn't matter though. With there extremely high turnover rate, you won't be there long.
