Current Employee – been working at RadioShack full-time for more than a year
Pros – Most people I have encountered at HQ truly care about RS succeeding. They also are helpful across different functions. Not as silo'd as other companies I have worked for. Integrity is a strong value here.
Cons – HQ workers are too timid. Scared to break out of the mold and go against normalcy.
Advice to Senior Management – Need a consistent voice from leadership regarding key initiatives.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at RadioShack full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The people are great! What you see is what you get.
Cons – Not much interaction or visability to the Executive Management team. No company mission statement. Need to pay what the Industry pays to get and keep good people.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop focusing on cell phones. Go back to what RadioShack is known for. Make being a geek a cool thing. Get in touch with your people. They have a lot of great ideas!

Former Employee – worked at RadioShack full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Company had potential, used to have integrity.
Cons – Company will never reach potential with current Upper Management.
Advice to Senior Management – This company has turned into a temporary machine that uses people up and spits them out.?I am saddened with my belief that something good could have been great again but I suppose that is what you get when you bring in employees from a failed company to run another company.

Current Employee – been working at RadioShack full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great people. Decent policies. Usually low-stress job.
Cons – The hours and varying schedule make it hard to do anything outside work. Minimum wage is the base pay. There are NO raises unless you become a store manager (still not great pay), no matter how long you have been there, or how good a job you do. Commission is added due to sales, but it doesn't make much difference on pay.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to give raises to retail sales employees who do a good job. Commission, alone, is not a way to show employees you appreciate them making more money for the company.

Current Employee – been working at RadioShack
Pros – Great people
Great building
Laid-back culture
Work-life balance
Cons – Excessive bureaucracy for an organization this size
Lack of urgency among supporting departments
Most workdays wasted trying to justify decisions for multi-layered approval
Benefits not comparable to competitors
Constantly changing systems that do not interract
Advice to Senior Management – RadioShack's leadership talks a big game about turning the company around and supporting growth initiatives within the company. Unfortunately, the RadioShack Titanic is a ship that does not turn quickly away from the oncoming iceberg of obscelescence. Management empowers employees to make grand strides towards progress without giving the internal support to execute. If a project does not match up with traditional timelines and processes, it will be nearly impossible to complete. Not to mention that so many layers of approval are necessary that the end product is almost nothing like the initial concept. This 'groupthink' problem is one RadioShack clings to as a safe haven to willy nilly spending of days gone by. unfortunately it is hindering their ability to press forward into new categories, mew marketing strategies and new channels. if management is able to get all departments moving in lock-step they are going to have the results they expect. As it stands, each department seeks its own best interest (least amount of work) without concern for the longevity of the company as a whole.

Current Employee – been working at RadioShack
Pros – Co-Workers are all great to be around. A lot of team work goes on to get through the day.
Work/life balance is good so long as your manage your time, very dependent on your boss.
Middle Management has a sincere interest in the business and try to keep moral up.
Cons – Senior Management is too close to the day to day activities which stifles people from actually feeling empowered and valued to the company. Decisions are made for you from upper management.
The overall moral is low since the big layoffs in 2006, the leadership team has done very little to create the fun atmosphere this place use to have, people just come to work and go home, very little pride in the company.
Advice to Senior Management – If you "need" a job, this place is OK, but don't expect to be able to come in and make a difference right away. I expect things will get better once the Senior management team turns over, which might be sooner than later.

Current Employee – been working at RadioShack
Pros – The opportunity to work with and work for capable people in a challenging, fast-paced environment while maintaining work - life balance.
Cons – Below-average benefits package (no vacation for 1 year)
Below-average compensation
Lack of defined company strategy or mission
Poor communication across teams
Complicated, esoteric systems for execution
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to streamline processes while improving employee compensation. Once we define what RadioShack is and want to be to its consumer we will become meaningful in the CE marketplace.
