I have been working at RadioShack part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Easy, super laid back, plenty of free time to play videogames or do homework while at work. Pretty much the perfect job for any college student.

    Cons

    Long hours and low pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should of made better decisions but instead you hired unintelligent people who drove the company into the ground

Radioshack suits students that go to full time well, but not many incentives for full time employees.

I have been working at RadioShack

    Pros

Depending on your location of course, but it's a chill laid back job. Not many people know RadioShack still exists.

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage plus commission, if your location is slow, that means you're working for minimum wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers are pretty much slaves to district managers, or recently "regional managers". Radioshack must change it's business mindset otherwise it will continue to go downhill.

    I worked at RadioShack full-time

    Pros

It was commission based so you can make more money than hourly alone.

Opportunity for interaction with many different people.

    Sales experience

    Cons

There was a state of micro management going on Which made it an unpleasant work environment. All management was constantly stressed made you feel bad for them.
They started cutting back commission by changing the structure which by the end made it not even worth working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect employees instead of only looking at bottom line.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working with technology on a day to day basis is fun, and learning about cell phones was the high parts of working here. Good cameraderie with other managers.

    Cons

The pay is low for the responsibilities, and the number of hours worked is excessive; I averaged 60+ a week. Direction from above was constantly changing, we'd get grilled one week for one thing, then the issue was completely dropped the next, then get chewed out later for the same thing. Also, the curse of retail, customers who are rude, and an obvious "the customer is always right, regardless of what actually happened mentality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours with a fun environment and great customer relationship experience.

    Cons

Struggling compensation along with minimum wage. Expected to do so much for so little pay. Compensation plans are always changing and not always for the better of the sales associate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have better compensation plans that not only a for better of the company but for the sales associate too. Highly recommend that you have a seniority compensation plan for those who have worked longer then one or two years...I personally have passed way beyond 5 years and still getting payed minimum wage plus the little commission one earns with the sinking of economy right along with it.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Been around for a long time and currently working hard to turn the company around.... To bad there is no clear direction...

    Cons

Upper management currently has no direction.. Regional Managers are beating up the stores and district managers, with no clear direction except to sell more see more and sell more this is the wrong way to handle the loss in tickets...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give better direction to the store teams and help us understand which stores are closing and stop leaving us in the dark

    Pros

    Cons

Very low pay. Not very structured. They will MAKE you sell warranties and place unnecessary pressure to sell without the proper compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to give raises! They seem to be nonexistent in your company.
