Pros
Some of the best reasons to work at Radio Shack is the opportunity of making a decent amount of money via commision sales.
Cons
Some of the downsides of working at Radio Shack is that at certain locations the management and store up keep is terrible.
Advice to Senior Management
I think that more managers should listen to the employee's ideas on methods that would attract more customers into the store.
Pros
This job makes you knowledgable with electronics such as cell phones, TV's etc.
Cons
Little or no room for advancement within the company, as well as being required to know alot for low pay.
Advice to Senior Management
IF you would like your associates to have more motivation to sell with attachments and replacement plans raise their wages and commission which in turn giving them greater incentives to do so.
Pros
Great customers.... Great coworkers.... Okay discounts
Cons
Upper Management doesn't have a clue how to treat its employees....
Advice to Senior Management
Open up to the people working in the field and not people that are coming from the inside... Fix the problem starting from within.
Pros
Potentially could be a stable job, have some good benefits employee benefits.
Cons
The compnay pretty much expect you to have no life, they tend to favor the sharks salesman.
Pros

Sometimes you get the feeling that you're wasting your time.

Pros
It is a learining experience. You will learn to have no quality of life, learn to work overnight sometimes 3 times a month to conduct inventores and then be back at work a few hours later with no rest, learn how to threaten employees instead of developing and coaching them because that is what Sr. Management expects. You will learn to make sure you document each time you sneeze because the company is more interested in micro managing then development.
Cons
Insulting pay rates for all postion at the field level. Benefits are almost non existant. SM's and DM's work 6 sometimes 7days / week and upwards of 60+ hours. There is no quality of life and expressing concerns to HR will get you nowhere except having Sr. Manament retaliate by coming down on you like a ton of bricks and micro manage every second of your time. You are empowered to do noting. There is WAY too much operational duties put on the SM's and DM's which leave little time for sales and sales planning which the company expects. They are changing planograms daily and expect managers to work until it's done regardless of their schedules. Turn over at the DM level is rediculous for a company that has been around this long. Word to the wise.. pass this opportunity up.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to basics. The happiness and quality of life of your field team who is on your front line is important. Open your eyes if you want to survive.
Pros
The pay is ok, and the fact that you can make your own schedule. Good job while going to college if you have a decent manager.
Cons
managers are always up your ass. corporate is pathetic, really need a complete makeover and and redesign. having to sell things your wouldn't buy yourself "service plans"
Advice to Senior Management
listen to your associates. pay more. give college tuition reimbursement so you can have some savvy people to work for you.
Pros
Cell Phone Plan Discount
Store Discounts
Cons
To measure your performance they only care about the numbers, they don't consider the variables. It is also very difficult to grow in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more in-store replacement plans
Pros
Store Manager Experience is about it
Cons
NO LIFE what so ever, no time for your family or personal life. 51 min hours 6 days a week
Pay is garbage 25,000 to 28,000 when you work overtime is only half time and not time and a half.
Corporate has no direction. Turnover rate is too high!
Only work here if uyou need to get by with some cash in the mean time.
Advice to Senior Management
PAY UP AND GIVE US A LIFE!
Pros
Fun, exciting environment when you're allowed a moment to sit back and enjoy it. Easy to represent brand with many innovative products and services.
Cons
Poor district management communication. Poor district communication and leadership skills. Poor ability to praise and reward for good performance. Punishment for hard workers who must follow unnecessary rules and checklists because of others who slack. Store Managers only receive one day off a week. Store managers must work a minimum of 52 hours a week with inane schedules generated by an automated tool that was purchased by a now-terminated member of RadioShack's corporate team. Too much pressure to fix the companies mistakes at store level. No assistant managers allowed for 2009 - all of the tremendous workload is now placed on Store Manager. 12-15 tasks a day that must be completed by SM (plus SM is expected to sell and write a minimum amount of tickets and only 30-40 minutes of office time) - expected to delegate complex tasks to associates who barely understand their job. Too many excuses from upper management and mind games from cutthroat Regional Services Directors and Area Vice Presidents. Scare-Tactics micro management is not the way to lead a region or a company. New store managers are trained by tenured store managers which in turn leads to poor performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Restructure your company based on the values and priorities it started with. Build a better advertising campaign to wake up the community to RadioShack's core values and show our selection of products as opposed to using our "knowledge" of products as most stores in RadioShack dont have a "knowledgable, helpful, sales associate". Train new store managers for up to 4 weeks before they set foot in a store. Find a better visual merchandising and concept team.
