It may be a flagship property for the States, but when a good crew leaves... its just the beautiful hotel.

I worked at Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Mini cafeteria sometimes open with ok food. Usually friendly employees, Ok management.

    Cons

Coworkers who slack off. The tip out is too much. Educational package is only $500.00 a YEAR.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the current rotation of managers have taken this because it looks good on the resume. Get a better computer system, the Symphony system was always down.

I worked at Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Beautiful decor. Hope for this relatively new place to be great.

    Cons

Servers, bartenders and buss people get the tips put on their checks. So there is no same or next day cash (unless the tips were cash).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate more on bettering the restaurant and staff welfare , instead of securing their own position within the co.

I have been working at Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The staff at my hotel is outstanding as far as providing excellent hospitality experience for both our guests and each other. Nearly everyone I work with is genuinely kind and eagerly dedicated to working together to provide that great experience for our guests.

    Cons

As with any job, there are individuals who are not to the task of acheving the mission of the company. And as a result, the atmosphere suffers. Because it is a corporate environment, the actions needed to address the work or behavior of said individuals can be rigid (although understandably so) and very drawn out, thus making for, at times, a less than efficient work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication! Communication is the key to understanding the needs of your guests, but likewise the needs of you staff in order to best serve those guests.

I worked at Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Radisson Hotel in Birmingham/UK was one of the best places I worked in my entire life ! Very fair executive management team, nice atmosphere, friendly supervisors and great possibilities for carrier development.

    Cons

You have to be hard working, flexible, strong minded and you should enjoy working under pressure from time to time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up great work ! If all Radisson Hotels are managed as good as Radisson BLU Hotel in Birmingham was I think that there would be very difficult to find better place to work. Now when I'm in Thailand my only dream is to get opportunity to work with Radisson once again.

    Pros

Many programs for employees. Clear structure.

    Cons

Too top heavy, and too cookie cutter assessments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Abandon American style test calls and start having qualitative evaluations based on a professional and not cookie-cutter scorecards. Qualitative always beats quantitative in these matters as a numerical assessment is not measuring exactly what it's supposed to measure.
