I worked at Radisson for about 14 months and I really had few problems. They have a good HR department and good training. Also great hotel perks for employees

I have been working at Radisson Hotels

    Pros

It's a good company. They are respectful of the employees

    Cons

They don't keep up to date with supplies. The one I work at is 50 years old and it shows. They never fire anyone even bad employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend money and update. Pay your good people so they stay. Fire the bad employees.

    I worked at Radisson Hotels

    Pros

Good people, great restaurant crew, going through changes, but great crew of people

Regular cons of hospitality, but nothing too bad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has changed a lot, so it is hard to tell

    I worked at Radisson Hotels

    Pros

The restaurant crew and social environment was great, could not ask for a better group of people. Many of whom are probably still there. I have been in the service industry for 15 years, and this was seriously one of the best groups of people that I have worked with.

    Cons

Regular restaurant industry issues, but I have not worked there is awhile so I can't really say.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be good to update the computer systems, they were outdated and this caused some issues that could have been avoided. This would improve faster service.

    Pros

    Hard to get fired.
    Dependable pay check
    Friendly staff
    And you insurance is ok

    Cons

There is zero communication and structure.
If there is anything going on at all and you are an hourly employee you will probably never even be told about it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to communicate and actually pitch in with your staff. With out the staff you have no hotel.

I worked at Radisson Hotels full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A midwest based hotel group with great values. Having worked for Hilton there is a more family culture within the group. Does promote from within. Hours can be long in middle management but overall very rewarding. Worked for different Radisson hotels for 6 years in different departments.

    Cons

Pay is average for hotel companies compared with other hotels in the area. But the opportunities and values make up for this over a longer period of time. Good company if you want to move around the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create greater financial incentives to keep middle managers. More benefits accruing with more time in with the company.

I worked at Radisson Hotels part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Specifically in Banquets they're a friendly and hardworking. These will be the most supportive and fun managers you'll probably ever have at a company!
It's got a positive atmosphere. You've got to have the personality for hospitality.

    Cons

    Un-predictable hours!
When it's gets really busy you may find yourself working a lot of shifts with hardly any sleep.
Banquets and housekeeping are always understaffed!
If you want to move up it takes a LONG TIME. There is pretty much no upward mobility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to make the hiring process easier!
There are tons of people in Kalamazoo that would love to work there but their hiring company, HumanEx, has made it very difficult to hire new employees!! Ask any employees that aren't working in corporate and I'm sure they know someone who was perfectly eligible and who couldn't pass through one of the processes.

I worked at Radisson Hotels part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great administrative experience, sharpens your customer service skills, great opportunity to advance to a Front Office Manager position given the high turn over rate.

    Cons

Very stressful, very underpaid, and you have to be cut out for this kind of work honestly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The high turnover can be lessened by paying your front desk agents more. They really do a lot and deserve better wages. This is more on the owner than anything else however as the managers of the hotel can't change their budget for the departments.
