    Pros

A midwest based hotel group with great values. Having worked for Hilton there is a more family culture within the group. Does promote from within. Hours can be long in middle management but overall very rewarding. Worked for different Radisson hotels for 6 years in different departments.

    Cons

Pay is average for hotel companies compared with other hotels in the area. But the opportunities and values make up for this over a longer period of time. Good company if you want to move around the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create greater financial incentives to keep middle managers. More benefits accruing with more time in with the company.

    Pros

Specifically in Banquets they're a friendly and hardworking. These will be the most supportive and fun managers you'll probably ever have at a company!
It's got a positive atmosphere. You've got to have the personality for hospitality.

    Cons

    Un-predictable hours!
When it's gets really busy you may find yourself working a lot of shifts with hardly any sleep.
Banquets and housekeeping are always understaffed!
If you want to move up it takes a LONG TIME. There is pretty much no upward mobility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to make the hiring process easier!
There are tons of people in Kalamazoo that would love to work there but their hiring company, HumanEx, has made it very difficult to hire new employees!! Ask any employees that aren't working in corporate and I'm sure they know someone who was perfectly eligible and who couldn't pass through one of the processes.

    Pros

Great administrative experience, sharpens your customer service skills, great opportunity to advance to a Front Office Manager position given the high turn over rate.

    Cons

Very stressful, very underpaid, and you have to be cut out for this kind of work honestly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The high turnover can be lessened by paying your front desk agents more. They really do a lot and deserve better wages. This is more on the owner than anything else however as the managers of the hotel can't change their budget for the departments.

Former Employee - Front Desk Employee in Pleasant Prairie, WI

    Pros

The nature of the job is very service oriented and if you enjoy working with people and problem solving its great. Every day felt like a new adventure, plus they do work with their employees to achieve a healthy work/life balance.

    Cons

Promotions and pay raises are not just hard to come by - they are non existent. The pay you receive after almost five years with the company is not even competitive with the starting wage at many other hotels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you work at keeping quality employees and offer more competitive wages you would see less turnover.

    Former Employee - Rooms Manager

    Pros

    - Great company from top down.
    - Great franchise owner and staff.
    - Great benefits to employees through the points program (tons of free nights).
    - Nice, clean properties (generally).

    Cons

    - Overworked, underpaid, what's new? It's the hotel business.
    - As it was a franchise, a lot of things operated "on the fly" which can sometimes be annoying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up. Even as a low level rooms manager I felt included in the company as a whole.

    Pros

Great floor level associates! Best I ever worked with!

    Cons

Management went through significant turn over. EC lost key individuals who actually cared and contributed toward a positive environment. Top level management does not poses good ethics and morals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the talent of those who have been there for years on the floor level. Good people and they could teach you something!!
