Former Employee – worked at Rainbow Media full-time
Pros – Hard working staff, high expectations that equal great results, approachable upper management, excellent benefits and perks. For the most part, most everyone is willing to teach you if you're looking to learn.
Cons – Some big egos in middle management, can have some damaging office politics and sometimes very "clique-y". If someone doesn't like you personally, some people have a hard time putting that dislike aside and therefor some people are treated differently.
Advice to Senior Management – You do a great job of being approachable. The company is successful because of the clear goals you have set.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Rainbow Media part-time for less than a year
Pros – I work for AMC Networks part-time and it's a very friendly atmosphere. All the tools you need to succeed are handed to you on a silver platter. Even has a nobody I had my own office (extremely glorified cubical; image an office with no window). Very comfortable hours too.
Cons – Very large company and Rainbow Media owns several departments that don't intermingle (except at the top). Not really a con but it's the closest thing I can think of. Especially since each floor is newly renovated (as of spring 2012).
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Rainbow Media
Pros – It allows you to get into the New York market. You start out in a freelance capacity and fight to get on staff just to get benifits.
Cons – The pay could be better. They have you do more work that in the city but for a third of the pay.
Advice to Senior Management – While it is great working for you the pay has to be to the point where you can afford to live on Long Island.

Former Employee – worked at Rainbow Media
Pros – Rainbow Media is comprised of silos of networks. Can't generalize. Not all business within the company are created and treated equally.
Cons – The Cablevision parent company is often unclear about how the Rainbow Media networks fit strategically within the larger cable provider company, and their value if often questioned.
Advice to Senior Management – Articulate a strategic business plan where Rainbow Media's value is greater than the sum of its network parts.
