I have been working at Raley's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

decent store environments, well funded, decent customer base.

    Cons

Sociopathic employers. Abusive, degrading from store directors to medical contractors, to insurance carriers and top dogs in company. They are universally corrupt and indifferent to the suffering of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider all aspects of employee well being as a means of making more money, it will. This is the language you speak so: consider being a people company in the interest of huge dividends this will passively produce all on it's own, since, this is all you care about.

I have been working at Raley's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discounts and full time schedule.

    Cons

Company has no $, therefore, always understaffing departments. Customers would always get angry because there were never enough employees to serve them. Upper management does NOT care about their employees. They only care about profits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come downstairs and do some of the dirty work when there are hoards of customers and not enough employees.

    Pros

a good job if you are in high school and need something to give you a little spending money.

    Cons

Seniority is always what will get you promoted even if you are newer and have the best work ethic. No set hours. Discounts are minimal.

    Pros

    decent pay and decent benefits

    Cons

to much drama management does not help and compiles things against you to write you up before they ever tell you that you are making a mistake. bad corporate decisions causing major cutbacks and basically everything else is a con as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

lead your people dont manage. get off your high horse and get your hands dirty and be approachable instead of trying to intimidate

I have been working at Raley's part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Well as they keep telling us.... be lucky you have a job... and you get 10 % off

    Cons

working with the public and other co-workers....... its not a family type store like it used to be. Its basically a factory type job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The work environment needs to improve to bring back your customers. And you need BETTER MATTS to stand on.... I know the company is struggling and acts like they cant afford that but..... i know they can. RALEYS ONCE HAD A SLOGAN " A PLACE WHERE EMPLOYEES LOVED TO WORK AND CUSTOMERS LOVE TO SHOP" thats just not the case anymore. When you walk into the store you just see everybody not smiling.....

I have been working at Raley's (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A long time ago, employees were valued, and treated as family.

    Cons

The upper managemnt has an agenda to bust the union,There are so many upper management makeing salaries over 100k per year,Self important people, with big egos, big heads,Years ago people rose to the ranks of upper managment,District managers, and above are all now comming from outside the company,(Companies that have failed) They are implementing ideas that did not work before, and have destroyed great companies,.The employees built this company, and the upper management is destroying it.Tom is sure to be rolling over in his grave to see what a mess has been made of this once great company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The attitudes of District managers and above, are what has destroyed this company,They are already paying less to employees, but The prices merchandise continue to rise.....

I worked at Raley's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent health care if your a older employee. My co-workers are pretty nice.

    Cons

Don't expect to move up unless you know someone, they play favorite's, hardcore. Managers/supervisors like to use scare tactic's and belittle you. They're only nice to you until you've been their for awhile. Then you see their true colors. Pay is sub par for the work you do, even if it is only a side job and your going to school. They work you like a dog. Actually, I quit because they wouldn't work around my school schedule even though they hired me promising they would. There's a lot of drama their right now they are constantly trying to scare the workers because they are trying to take away from their pay and benefits right now. They defiantly don't stick to their motto "for food and for family, enhancing the quality of life"...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the huge overblown ego's and cockyness. Treat people right and don't hire people under false pretenses. Where your workers, not your slaves.

    Pros

The Raley's Family and owners' are very nice people.

    Cons

Supervisors are divided philosophically and provide no department direction at this time. There are conflicts in management between old ways and new ways. 'Very sad!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Raley's needs more educated managers.

I have been working at Raley's

    Pros

Pretty good flexibility. More for high school and mid college aged kids. Ok benefit program, not a bad turnover rate.

    Cons

Managment is ok, but the supervisors are a complete joke. Unfair promotions to people who do NOT deserve it. Advancement is highly unlikely for some. Favoritism, basically a popularity contest. Unrealistic expectations, "increasing basket size and increased sales give you more hours!" not enough help, and sometimes too many people scheduled. Stop having only one person do all the grunt work. Stop micromanaging the employees who do not need it! If you want a courtesy clerk to do floral, or any other department for that matter, cross train them appropriately!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job. Stop playing favorites. This is NOT high school. Stop insulting customers as soon as they're out of earshot.
