    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are great. Thats about it.

    Cons

Wages suck at lower levels, upper management doesnt seem to care about anyone below them in "rank". There is no wage increase for training for example I started as a checker at 10 dollars an hour and am now trained in dairy, deli, and produce and still make 10 dollars flat.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop being greedy and increase wages.

I have been working at Raley's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues throughout the chain makes it fun to work. SOME management teams are great motivating and inspiring to team members. They can help you advance and be successful.

    Cons

No growth a long time. Wages have been stagnate and while they promote advancement in wages it will take 10 years to get to $16 an hour. Benefits are good but only worth while after 5 years. The union is not what is was and adversity between management and the union has team members caught in between.

    Advice to Management

Reward your team leads, $0.50 more an hour is not compensation for the job. Take down some hurdles for the new team members to advance on the wage scale. Too many good people leave to make more at other employers as entry level positions.

I have been working at Raley's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Independence is key at Raley's and management gives you the opportunity to succeed or fail on your own terms. Additionally, there has been a new influx of talent that has shaken up old school way of thinking in grocery. Most of the folks that work here are good, down to earth people that work hard and are also open to change. Because of the independence, promotion for high potential people is often available and mentoring is encouraged.

    Cons

Sometimes change comes too quickly for everyone to digest. Additionally, there are a lot of new competitors entering the market that do not play by the same rules as a family run company.

    I worked at Raley's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company provides great benefits, even for part time employees. Pay starts out a little above minimum wage, but that is to be expected with entry level positions.

    Cons

It is fairly difficult to become a full time entry level position. It takes a long time to accumulate a significant boost in hourly pay.

    Pros

If you like working with the public then the checker (clerk) experience is for you. Nice people work here, management in this store is very fair and cool. Good benefits. Company considers itself a family. They do work with me and my schedule.

    Cons

Not sure that compensation is competitive but I have not shopped the competition for that info. Unclear about how committed company is to developing employees.
