I have been working at Raley's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great employees, the best co-workers you will ever work with (even before I started working here and just shopped here, you could tell everyone has a fun time and enjoys their jobs and helping our customers and town). Good hours and very flexible schedule for those of us who are students (either of High school or College). Being a college student, I am not looking for a promotion to greater responsibilities, but for those who are, you can expect them within mere months of working here. Managers are good at recognizing those who are capable of good work and promote them to higher levels quickly. Everyone in the store is always treated with the fullest respect and fairness possible. If I wasn't a college student, this is definitely the place that I would build a career at. Nearly everyone in town stops by the store on a regular basis, so I would mention getting to know the rest of Placerville as a definite pro as well. Extremely family oriented and I am proud of working for a Placerville original company since 1935.

    Cons

    No cons to speak of

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the excellent work! I love working for this company, and particularly for this store. Perhaps if I had to name one thing, it would be better scheduling more hours during busy times and less hours during less busy times. It seems there are always too few colleagues when we need them the most, however, I fully understand that this may be difficult to accurately forecast.

    Pros

a good job if you are in high school and need something to give you a little spending money.

    Cons

Seniority is always what will get you promoted even if you are newer and have the best work ethic. No set hours. Discounts are minimal.

Raley's treatment of their employees has gone down hill. Less pay and more work load.

    I worked at Raley's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

As a long time employee, I have seen the pros evaporated. If someone is just starting out today, they may not see the way things were and think that employment is OK ("The new norm"). Although, it seems that today's job environment in general is eroding away all that was good leaving the middle class barely scraping by.

    Cons

As a main office employee, there was little job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are just doing what it takes to get the maximum profit possible. There loyalty to their employees is none existent. My advice to raley's is to buck the trend and treat their employees like real people again, but we all know that will never happen.

I have been working at Raley's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

privately owned, great benefits, some stores union, decent pay, really clean stores, vacation time you can earn is great & you get 3 paid holidays a year. 10% employee discount. Some Paid holidays. very customer satisfaction oriented.

    Cons

not enough labor, not same family feel the stores used to have, pay increases are poor & far & few between, fluctuating schedule, not much room for growth in company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To work at store level & really see what store needs are & how the plans they set really work & are implemented. Stick to Tom Raleys philosophies . The industry has changed but some things don't. Tom always said to make it a place people love to shop & employees love to work!

    Pros

    Customer service experience, flexible shifts.

    Cons

Corrupt management, little to no union support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the employee, because by the time I left it felt like the "customer only" focus was destroying work ethic of employees.
