I have been working at Ramada part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

If you need to take time off for any reason the management is very understanding and flexible. You learn on the job and through a series of videos. You gain vast amounts of customer service skills and the manager is always willing to help even if you have to call to get an answer.

    Cons

While working here we changed base companies upon doing so we lost all of our vacation days, without the possibility of gaining any in the future. We also lost the holiday pay for the foreseeable future. When the winter months roll around you are losing hours unless you are one of the few, very few, people who have been there for more than 3 years. The only way you will get a promotion is if someone leaves. The current owner of our location is constantly losing things in when they are given to him numerous times and its not like his office is messy he is just a little absent minded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think that if they want a good company they need to make sure that raises, or even just cost of living increases, were given because during my time here the only time I received an increase in pay was when I moved to the over night shift and that was hazard pay as something dangerous was more likely to happen in the wee hours of the morning. Also, make sure that employees have holiday and vacation pay even if you only offer certain days to people that have been with the company for a certain amount of time. I loved working here until the company change happened.

Was better in the beginning, went through a sale and the new management was horrible and aggressive.

I worked at Ramada full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Standard 8:30 to 5 Mon-Fri work week for office staff.

Lots of interactions with upper management. Training and travel were available to other locations.

    Great healthcare package.

    Cons

The new owners removed all the PROs. They changed healthcare to an horrible option and increased the cost.

Changed the work week to a rotating schedule with no oversight. You get what you get depending on what your supervisor feels like giving you. As long as the supervisor doesn't go over the allotted hours no one checks the schedule.

The new owner vanished after the initial 2 weeks and left some older relative that speaks broken English in charge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is unavailable to the line and file. You hire way too many people for cheap that can not speak English properly. I have significant doubts as to whether some of them are legal, and I've worked in hotels plenty of times but we have an abnormal amount of non-speaking staff. Fix your scheduling and benefits. Treat people more humanely. Explain to them, help them along and make them feel wanted.

Rumors are around the area that you are going under, while I don't work there anymore you should take action on that it can demoralize your staff.

I worked at Ramada part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Caring co-workers, management concern over employees health and travel conditions

    Cons

Drama, drama, drama, unsanitary conditions in area's of the hotel, bed bugs in some of the rooms, shuttle (van) that doesn't work, stress due to the poor condition of the hotel and having to keep guests happy while they are in truth a terrible hotel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the owner, get financial backing that would allow the necessary repairs to be done, and the employees to be paid a competitive wage instead of the low ball wages they are being paid currently.

    I worked at Ramada full-time

    Pros

started some renovations, nice lobby, and slightly renovated ball room
food was good, plates were nice but dated. terrible terrible terrible

    Cons

Empty promises of completing renovations of hotel and public space. Painting over wallpaper in guest rooms. Paychecks bouncing, vendors cutting off service because of non payment, not enough food for banquets. Their website says that they are a renovated property, they are NOT renovated, less than 10% of the guess rooms have even been repainted let alone remodeled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

consider not purchasing another hotel with out having the capital to make the necessary improvements. Bouncing paychecks are never good for morale.
