Pros
pay raise every 6 months
flexible schedule
Cons
too many requirements to maintain "world class service"
Pros
Some very nice people. Customers are courteous for the most part and the atmosphere is pretty mellow. Most stores have an in store Starbucks.
Cons
You will never be able to get everything done in a day. You will be hounded about your labor and given more and more to accomplish without additional time in which to do it. If you care about doing a good job, you will feel incredibly stressed and have little to no satisfaction in a job well done. This a labor driven company, not a sales driven company.
The pay is way below par and because of that the caliber of worker, the turnover rate is high.
There are a lot of bitter people working in the stores who feel undervalued, under paid and over worked.
The micromanagement and paper work adds to the frustration.
Advice to Senior Management
Start to promote sales and the labor will take care of itself. You cut off your nose to spite your face by not allowing departments the time to do all they could do to increase sales.
Pros
Randall's has decent pay as well as decent benefits. If you are a department manager then the hours arn't too bad either as many of the departments close by 8pm. There is room for growth if you work hard.
Cons
There isn't much organization in stores. I worked for two stores and there seemed to be a disconect between the store manager and the department managers. There is a decent amount of turnover. You are an hourly position, so there is a lot to get accomplished and NO OVER TIME.
You don't get much of a discount on the store products at all.
Advice to Senior Management
be a little more understanding of the tasks you are asking to be accomplished and the hours you give to accomplish these tasks.
Pros
retirement annuity type good in hard times, pharmacy not really busy so alot of down time if your a quick worker
Cons
go old boys club your either in or out, no breaks, no lunch, open 12 hours with one pharmacist if you add in 15-20 show before shift and 10 15 min after shift 12.5 hour days, expectation to give immunizations while only rph on staff, no compensation for immunization service.
Advice to Senior Management
need new blood in upper management to get new fresh ideas, need lower prices not more gimmics, pay rph for advanced services.
Pros
I was lucky and had good co-workers. Discounts on only store brands. Time off was easy to get if you worked hard.
Cons
Poor pay, Managers are rotated every 6 months or less. A LOT of work for little pay, They will right you up for missing on shop's. They give you shoppers, basically an inside man to see if your doing everything by the book. If you miss on even one of the things your supposed to cover you will get a warning and in my case written up. I was most liked by my managers and even loyal customers. but at the end of the day I was bad employee because my "report card" said I was terrible at customer service.
Advice to Senior Management
Have your managers stay arround longer than 6 months. Get your turnover rate down by having better management. offer bonuses to those who shine.
Pros
Management oppurtunitys are always open
Cons
Upper management has poor communication
Advice to Senior Management
It's o.k
Pros
I had a flexible schedule. Shifts had definite break times, so I always guaranteed a complete break during my shift.
Cons
I got sick one time and got punished so I was taken off the schedule for the week and also written up.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers should stick their head out of their ass and treat employees better. I think they have forgotten what it is like to work for $8/hr.
Pros
Professional environment, many employees makes scheduling easy.
Cons
Advanement opportunites are limited; floor manager positions are hard to get.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
Compensation, employees you work with
Cons
Ethics of loss prevention and human resources
Advice to Senior Management
Management have not received raises or bonuses in two years. Service is rediculous and blown out of proportion. I would not recommend this employer to anyone.
Pros
Manageable pace in pharmacy allows you to get to know your customers/patients
Cons
Tech hours you earn from prescription sales does not carry over so if you are slow one week and busy the next you can find yourself with little or no technician support
Advice to Senior Management
Allow some carry over of technician hours so that the pharmacist can have more freedom to initiate events in the pharmacy (ex, health awareness and prevention, disease management clinics, etc)
