I have been working at Randalls

    Pros

Manageable pace in pharmacy allows you to get to know your customers/patients

    Cons

Tech hours you earn from prescription sales does not carry over so if you are slow one week and busy the next you can find yourself with little or no technician support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow some carry over of technician hours so that the pharmacist can have more freedom to initiate events in the pharmacy (ex, health awareness and prevention, disease management clinics, etc)

I have been working at Randalls part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Randalls has a great work-life balance; they're very flexible with their hours and will work with you when it comes to scheduling. Hourly employees get a raise every 6 months depending on performance.

    Cons

There will always be rude customers; don't let them get to you. Can be very stressful if your store is understaffed. Also, although it's not impossible to move up in your store, it's not exactly common.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the stores more hours instead of cutting them every chance you get. Cutting your staff down to a skeleton crew stresses them out, and it's much harder to tolerate rude customers when we're stressed out.

I worked at Randalls full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees and Customers are excellent to be around most of the time, everyone is friendly to talk to and are happy to see each other

    Cons

Company has a plan and it mostly involves controlling costs by reducing labor usage and bleeding more work out of the employees that remain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How can you call yourself great at customer service when there is no one to help customers and they know it?

    Pros

Great place to gain experience being a cashier. Learn how to handle all types of money, including checks, food stamps, and especially coupons. Build character in knowing how to interact with customers and fellow employees.

    Cons

The pay was not as high as other comparable stores. Sometimes, the lines would never seem to end. Occasional system failures.

I worked at Randalls part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The hours are fair, the pay is reasonable, and you do have opportunities to advance. Management can be fair based on how they like you. The work is simple if not a bit repetitive.

    Cons

The location determines who your fellow employees are. There is a HUGE gossip culture among people who have worked in entry positions their whole career. If you're at a bad location, it's near impossible to transfer. Safeway kind of treats the company like a step-child.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help nip the gossip culture in the butt. Inform employees that talking about others behind their back will only lead to bad things.

I have been working at Randalls part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Being a cashier at Randalls is good to gain some work experience when working with the general public, and learning how to work a cashier and balance your register at the end of the day. Easy work, good for gaining sales and customer service experience.

    Cons

Favoritism among the high level management and standing up on your feet all day. The customer that shop at Randalls are very snooty and stuck up. The management shows favoritism amongst lower level employees and the raise you get is based upon the ratings you receive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more patience with your new employees and don't show favoritism.

    I worked at Randalls

    Pros

Randall's has decent pay as well as decent benefits. If you are a department manager then the hours arn't too bad either as many of the departments close by 8pm. There is room for growth if you work hard.

    Cons

There isn't much organization in stores. I worked for two stores and there seemed to be a disconect between the store manager and the department managers. There is a decent amount of turnover. You are an hourly position, so there is a lot to get accomplished and NO OVER TIME.
You don't get much of a discount on the store products at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be a little more understanding of the tasks you are asking to be accomplished and the hours you give to accomplish these tasks.
