Pros
The work life balance was the best part of the job as well as the opportunity to engage in challenging work.
Cons
The greatest downside to this position is that there are limited chance to advance without getting higher eduaction like a PHD.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership was solid; however, they lack the flexibility of thinking to be truly successful in the current rapidly changing environment.
Pros
Randstad helps you to find a job by interviewing you and recommending you to different companies. They have access to jobs you may not have otherwise been able to find.
Cons
In my experience, most jobs are entry level type jobs. You don't work directly for the company they staff you at, so you generally don't get to share in benefits or advancements in the same way direct hires would.
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for providing an opportunity for employment. I don't really have feedback directly to Randstad since my communication directly with them was very limited.
Pros
Started out great. Alot of fun. Just felt like they stop caring after about 2 mos.
Cons
Assistant manager looks out for himself only. Pretends to be your friend but really doesn't care AT ALL about you. No support with online training then again expected to know everything.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure peoples are getting the correct training and support, don't just take the Assistant Managers word for it!
Pros
-benefits
-stability
-compensation
-respect
-growth opportunity
-recognition
-bonuses + base + commissions
-great reputation
-great leadership
Cons
-eliminating employees that are not performing
Pros
Benefit package for new employees
Potential for new opportunities due to acquistion of smaller organizations
Employees tend to form decent bonds with one another
Cons
Employees must learn by trial and error due to lack of process knowledge of upper management
Hiring process is too long, too many useless interviews
Inconsistent strategic direction in sales and processes
Advice to Senior Management
Learn your products, processes and how to retain your best talent. If organic growth is your goal, teach, senior leaders how to attract and retain talent.
Pros
Great tenure in our region, outstanding local leadership (for the time being), solid reputation in the community
Cons
Recent acquisition of SFN Group and mass management changes, promoting only Mergis managers...and lack of communication of management about upcoming changes, seemingly arbitrary changes being made in management by our new President with out getting to know the local talent.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop acting like an old boys club and promoting your own, get to know who you have in the company and know why the company is a success..if you don't, then you could possibly see top talent leaving at a rapid rate.
Pros
opportunties are available to many
Cons
Improve communication to the teams
Advice to Senior Management
flexability for out-side-of-the-box thinking
Pros
Randstad places you in assignments rather quickly, which is great when you are in need of a job immediately. Pay is weekly and is paid the immediately after completing a week.
Cons
If you call out, expect to be hassled about it. Randstad makes its money by its talent working. If you call out, expect to have the team members to be rude about it and to probe into the details of why you are sick, despite the fact they are not legally allowed to ask specific health questions. Furthermore, communication between Randstad and the client is not where it should be.
Advice to Senior Management
Please remember that your talent comes from many different backgrounds - professionally and personally. I have managed over 200 employees and understand perfectly the different aspects of meeting employee needs with company needs.
Pros
Randstad is a company built with a solid HR backbone. They have incredible training and are extremely systematic. Benefits are outstanding (a great employee stock purchase program in addition to the health benefits). As of this writing, you get 18 days of Paid-Time-Off (PTO) which can be used for either sick/vacation/personal days. That number rises with your tenure in the company. It's a great place for your 1st or 2nd job (their training will make up for lack of experience).
Cons
When I joined Randstad, the company had a very entrepreneurial culture. Since that time, they have altered their leadership style and now micro-manage almost all aspects of the job. If you operate well in a structured environment, you'll be fine. In this company, promotions go to those who follow orders (without question). If you enjoy achieving results, but want the freedom to follow your own path in doing so, it's best to find another potential employer.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow your team the freedom to determine their own strategy to achieve results. You may be surprised at the potential that you're slowly strangling to death with the iron-fist of micro-management.
Pros
You are surrounded by professionals who work as a team to reach a common goal.
Overall, the pay is competitive and the opportunity for training and development is now available.
It is base plus commission with no cap.
Cons
Flat organization so not as much upward mobility within Randstad Engineering, but opportunity within other operating companies.
