I worked at Rave Motion Pictures part-time for more than a year
Pros – Fun environment, great co-workers. The managers care about the employees and free movies were a plus.
Cons – Whenever it rain, you know your day was going to be hectic. Customers could be pretty rude for no reason, but that's to be expected when working in a customer service industry.
Advice to Senior Management – Unfortunately our district was sold to Carmike Cinemas, but I hope Rave keep up the good work.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Rave Motion Pictures part-time for more than a year
Pros – Being able to see free movies by yourself, with family, or with friends that you bring to the theater, is the single best reason to work for Rave Cinema. Next would be the free popcorn and soft drinks. My fellow workers are also great people; friendly and overall dependable . The management is good enough.
Cons – Having to work weekends and holidays. The company seems to no longer give raises to employees or supervisors. I've worked at my local Rave theater for exactly a year now, and I've never seen a raise whatsoever. I started at $7.25 and remain at $7.25 Every other worker, outside of management, that I've talked to has expressed the same sad sentiment that they haven't seen a
raise under the operation of Rave Cinemas.
Advice to Senior Management – Please give raises to us hard-workers :-) Make us want to stay around.

I worked at Rave Motion Pictures full-time for more than a year
Pros – There are many opportunities to move up in the company. I started off as regular staff on minimum wage and moved up to management in less than a year. The environment is always fun and it's a great way to meet new people. With new movies coming out every week, you never get too bored with the same routine. A major plus is the employee privileges for free movies for yourself and guests.
Cons – The pay is not that great. No matter who you are, if you start on staff you're going to start out on minimum wage. You do get employee evaluations on your 3 month, 6 month, and then every year, but the raise isn't very noticeable. Depending on what city you're in, as staff you may not even get 10 hours a week. As one of the slower theaters, there aren't many hours to be given. Moving onto an assistant manager I got paid $9.00 an hour with somewhere between 36 - 40 hours every week, which made up for my time working as staff. I did have to beg for my annual evaluation (the only way to get a raise) and I still never got it before I left.

I worked at Rave Motion Pictures full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – There's flexibility around school schedules. Tuition assistance is good. Cool 'perks' as far as free movies, snacks and official marketing material. Many of the people you work with are an absolute pleasure to be around. Interesting architecture, and highly advanced projection equipment. Great relationships with repeat customers.
Cons – Poor upper management and human resources. Lack of communication from the top down, and across theater management teams. This company is CHEAP. If you look closely, you can tell that they cut corners in every opportunity possible. Unable to manage problematic employees (i.e. theft or security standards). Does not value employees/managers who go above and beyond expectations, and therefore managers tend NOT to work harder than needed.
Corporate will not allow for ANY flexibility on the part of the individual theater, in the realm of low-level operations. For example, we had procedures that worked well for us and that we were comfortable with. Seemingly out of nowhere, (name) implemented new standards and expectations that did not fit our needs. As a result, our particular location suffered because of added man-hours, and poor instruction from the top, along with added stress surrounding uncertainties. Corporate is not invested in how the theater is operating on an efficiency level. The bottom line is their ONLY concern. That's all well and good since it's a business, but there is no regard paid to employee satisfaction. Low-paid, uneducated managers are puppets with dollar-signs for heads, doing the bidding of an upper level management team that does not seem to care about dedicated their employees. I fear that many upper-level managers have never actually worked in a theater setting...could be wrong, but it doesn't show. Upper-management shows a lack of interest in assisting employees/managers who show initiative. They do not reward honesty or integrity...if you begin a career here with hopes that your good character and moral superiority will get you places, think again my friend! Unless you are a drone, you will not find much happiness or enrichment here (which is a real shame). I won't say much about terrible hours, because it is implied that your nights, weekends and holidays will be devoted to your "work" since those are peak business times. That one is obvious. I have a lot more to say, but you get the picture. Do yourself a favor and limit your interaction with this company as much as possible. Yes, the ticket prices are the lowest in town (at least in the Denton, TX market) but have some self respect and view your movies where the seats aren't broken, where the projector bulbs don't have 5,000+ hours (on the brink of explosion) and where you won't be viewed as just another annoying, needy customer.
The management team was ordered to wear regular worker-bee polos, instead of their usual business attire. This has made it increasingly hard for customers to direct complaints or the ever so rare compliment. Employees show little to no respect to a boss who wears the same cheap clothing as them - our entire management team agreed fully, but there was nothing we could do about it. Upper-management, like I said, has never come to our theater and said "What can we do to help?" or "How would you improve this?" or "Give me some suggestions on how to do such and such." and so on. It would have been so much better of our input or suggestions had the smallest amount of merit. If you are the type of person who is innovative, who is a problem solver, or has any shred of an opinion, this isn't the place for you.
Dearest reader, please trust me when you read these words. I am not making anything up. I am an honest, up-standing, hard-working student who just wanted some cash flow and experience...this is not what I had in mind. The structure is lacking and your ideas and deeds are worthless. I'm saying these things with all objectivity. These statements are driven by observations, not by feelings. I beg you, please resist the free movies and free movie posters! (unless you're just looking for a 15hr/week job scooping popcorn and sweeping up said popcorn - I direct this toward those of you considering a management position).
Overall, priorities do not lie within the staff or customers, which directly contradicts their motto "Every Customer. Every Day." and the new, internal saying "Every Employee. Every Day." I am filled with genuine sadness, but everything herein is a truism. Trust me.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay attention to your buildings. Learn how to do what your title implies. Field input directly from the people that are running your buildings! They know the problems, let them solve it with SUPPORT from the top. Trust your loyal employees. Many of us have served there for 4, 5, or even 6 years and have never missed a shift or misplaced funds. I type this directly to the CEO, COO, HR dept., Investigators and the Director of Ops - Your assistant managers know the staff, the buildings, and their other managers better than the backs of their own hands, Their input is IMPORTANT. Their dedication is astounding, and their loyalty is unbelievable. Your mistakes directly cause dysfunction among teams. Support your managers. Do not make hasty, thoughtless decisions. They will cost you greatly.
