    Stable place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsMost of the people that work there are pretty good at their jobs, they were truly apologetic about the round of layoffs, you probably will not find a better firm for work life balance

ConsSuper conservative, Some senior people have been there forever and are not open to change. Management has also promoted people based on tenure instead of merit which leads to conflict with newer associates, nepotism is also evident

Advice to Senior ManagementShake things up, it is a bit boring

Used to be a great company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are great opportunities if you are in the Tampa area. There are some really great people that work at RJ as well. Great retirement programs.

ConsYou can't go above your department manager's head because the director of the sector will just throw it back to your boss. He's hands off which can be good but it make him out of touch as in this case. There is a constant battle between departments. I hadn't had a review in over a year nor had our manager visited our office yet they took the word of others from a different sector because he was saving his own job. He wanted to point the finger at others. The politics continues to be an issue.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to get in touch with the employees who are doing the real work and actually care about protecting people's investments.

    Raymond James Review

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsRaymond James Financial is a stable, conservative financial services firm. The benefits package is pretty good. The home office is centrally located and good for most commuters.

ConsAs with most large firms Raymond James Financial suffers from a lot of red tape and processes that don't make sense.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to seek feedback and take action from associates through the associate insight survey.

Worked as a research associate in the equity research department at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett (now Raymond James)

    Equity Research Associate (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsEasy access to management. Lots of responsibility fast. Everyone was very easy to work with and happy to help you out if you have questions.

ConsVery low pay versus other companies in the research universe. Long hours but that is typical in Equity Research Departments. Overall company did not value the research department.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPay more.

overall descent, with a few run ins with incompetent, selfish middle management

    Compliance Advisor (Former Employee)
    Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsJob security, learning and growth opportunities for some, respectable benefits

ConsLow pay, it's in St. Petersburg, bad management, quality of people is questionable, everybody thinks you work at the Stadium where the Bucs play when you tell them, Outlook of company is not good due to bad technology and aging customer base.

    Alternative to Wall Street

    Associate (Current Employee)
    Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsHas the resources of a Wall Street firm and the culture and independence of a regional firm.

Its unique culture of independence gives Raymond James financial advisors the freedom to meticulously tailor a long-term plan based solely on the financial well-being of each client and their specific goals.

ConsThe firm does not orient its operations around short-term results...instead, it focuses on steady, long-term outcomes that best serve its clients, shareholders and employees.
