I worked at Raymond James & Associates part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They have the best back office support of any brokerage firm I've worked. Great firm to work if you are established in the business. The culture is amazing, feels like you have the freedom to run your business the way you want. Not constant change like I have experienced at other firms.

    Cons

They need to continue to get their name out in the west coast but other than that I have no bad things to say about this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management is very down to earth. On your birthday you will get a hand written card from the President :)

I have been working at Raymond James & Associates as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Raymond James has a great culture and is a great place if you're looking for a steady job working with generally very nice people. They also tend to promote from within which is great if you're hoping to move up.

    Cons

Raymond James tends to be slightly lower than the average salary for positions albeit makes up for it with plenty of advancement opportunities and a steady job environment.

I worked at Raymond James & Associates full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It has a culture that is comfortable. Some things that are allowed at other companies such as cursing and other things that make employees uncomfortable aren't allowed there

    Cons

They instituted a policy of employee evaluation that requires that those at the lower end of a bell curve are penalized no matter what their perfomance is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lose the evaluation policy. It breeds bad things among employees and significantly hurts any feeling of job security.

I worked at Raymond James & Associates full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very supportive of financial advisors. Open platform with client focus allows advisors to structure their practices their way.

    Cons

Very good place work. The only con is the amount of turnover in the sales assistants, but this is somewhat the nature of the business. Also, the independent nature of the company sometimes got in the way of establishing good processes for business. Occasionally felt as if one were recreating the wheel in doing some types of business, even if the business was somewhat common.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.
