Pros
Relaxed atmosphere and low level of accountability
Cons
Restrictive imagination implementation and old style thinking
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of driftwood
Pros
Raytheon offers good salaries and benefits. They also have a 9/80 work schedule and flex time.
Cons
Job is affected by political cycle (DOD budget). Government programs are smaller now and job assignments are shorter durations. This can add to stress an employees career.
Pros
-Pretty good pay
-9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)
Cons
-No work sometimes
-Not a permanent position
Advice to Senior Management
better job transfer program
Pros
the salary is pretty good for defense. The work is slow if you like that. They use a 9/80 schedule and they are pretty flexible if you need to take time off during the week. Lots of areas to work your way into if you are unhappy with current position.
Cons
management, saturated market, management....slow pace! They just seem to bounce you around with little or no support or supervision. Then they are expected to evaluate your work. That cant be done if they do not even know what you did.
Advice to Senior Management
supervisors do not know the quality of your work, yet they are responsible for verifying your performance for promotions. hands-off management that acts hands on when yearly evaluations come around.
Pros
Benefits have been good (but are getting worse)
There are good opportunities to work with others and outside your comfort zone
There are many opportunities for travel
Program capture is the most visible/rewarded job
Cons
Very little credit for technical expertise, or opportunity for professional development unless it is a critical technology area for the business (e.g., radar)
Nobody is going to look out for your career. Your managers are competing with you for better assignments
Creativity in general is going to frustrate you, not reward you. Do not work outside the box. Covering your bosses ass is the way to get rewarded
Advice to Senior Management
Total lack of vision - everything is about bending over to pick up the nickel someone dropped. Pick a direction, come up with some killer products and allow your technical people to have objective standards for advancement. Stop the union job shop attitude (we'll do anything for anyone who will pay us cost plus).
Pros
Appropriately ranged compensation
Room for advancement if project metrics met
Numerous awards for worksite, health and wellness, environmental acheivement
Cons
Work flow unstable
Work projects can force skillset into old or niche position.
Advice to Senior Management
Reduce overhead costs
Decentralize specific functions such as accounting, HR
Pros
It is a technology rich company. You get the opportunity to work on diverse technology. There are numerous technology based project options.
Cons
It is a very old, not very flexible company. Raytheon is a conservative company. Management control is not dispersed very far within the company
Advice to Senior Management
Empower the organization. Allow decisions to be made at much lower levels but hold people accountable. Allow for more creative thinking.
Pros
It has a great benefit package, and great time off.
Cons
You may not be as challenged depending on what site you work at.
Advice to Senior Management
I think management should focus more on younger employees and development plans in growth and vertical movement.
Pros
Pays well
Great Benefits
Low turnover rate
Cons
No room for advancement.
Slow days can make for long weeks.
Poorly managed.
Advice to Senior Management
Create better communication between workers and front line managers.
Pros
Management is knowledgable and personable
Cons
Does not back up the talk, overhype. You have opportunities to experience new exciting things, but no one teach you about it. Ambiguity - do this and figure how to do it - afterwards harsh reviews if not accurate.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure your employees are a reflection of you....
