    Pros

There are some management that understands how an organization is suppose to perform but few and far between.

    Cons

Not a place to start or extend a career it is where careers go to die. Lack of vision and commitment which shows why the organization needed the government to survive which is one of the reasons why they are still around till this day. Companies that manufacturer similar product such as FLIR are far superior and makes one wonder how and why they provide such product.

    Advice to Management

Get people that know their job and that will invest to do what is right prior to an Osha incident let alone a situation that will shut the antiquated systems down. Do not put people in positions that do not have the knowledge whether they are married to program managers or has been their for over 20 yrs.

  3. The company is big corporation and its challenging to Experience the product that has evolve in the 90 years design .

    Pros

Pay is very good and the job presents few technical demands. I recommend this company to someone at a stage in their careers where they want to focus their real energies outside of work. For example, parents with young kids and engineers interested in earning a second degree while workin full-time do well here.

    Cons

All levels of management are technically ignorant in general and new to RVS and IR sensors in particular (in my management chain no one has held their current job for more than 2 years). They thus lack technical knowledge or practical experience to make rational decisions. You will lack management support for growing your own or departmental capabilities because they honestly will have no frame of reference in which to evaluate any requests. Thus, decisions are made primarily on a political basis. If you are technically oriented, RVS is a poor choice.

    Advice to Management

You should learn something about the key performance characteristics of an IR detector and how these are measured. Then you should walk down into the test labs and evaluate what you see there in light of your new knowledge.

    Pros

Many world-class challenges and projects. Some great teams of people in many aspects of the companies operation. Wide variety of jobs and locations. Tech leaders in many areas.

    Cons

Large organization with many policies, procedures, and guidelines which can sometimes be hard to navigate. Budgeting can be quirky, leading to some terrible dilemmas in the use of obsolete tools and instruments

    Advice to Management

Chart a constant course with clear priorities, bring all levels of the team of 80,000 people into the game. Improve efforts at young/early career staff retention. Quit being just a "resume builder" for bright young people.

    Pros

Large, worldwide company with diverse technologies and applications. The technology is cutting edge and Raytheon is an industry leader.

    Cons

The culture is behind the time. Many of the long time employees don't put much stock into ideas from new employees. Over abundance of policy's that sometimes slows the growth process.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like people and not a number.
