    Pros

Its a large defense contractor. You can kick back and be a low performer, or go into hyper drive and walk on water. It may not matter depending on where your line management thinks you sit on the bell curve.

    Cons

Mix of the last of the Hughes heritage culture, and the intentional bias on new hires as they did nothing concrete to fill the gap of the Baby Boomer Exodus. Culture and Values only go as far as whether we're shipping product or not. Of course they will deny this, and state the long list of Ethics programs they have, but when it comes to $$ they don't care what it takes. The performance evaluation system is broken. They used to have an equation with peer performance feedback, but they got rid of that years ago. Now its where your manager sees you to fit on the bell curve within his/her group. Missile Systems takes advantage of the fact that they're the only large engineering company in town, make no mistake about that. As far as advancement goes forget it. Raytheon is now focused on two things Radar and Computer Security. Most of the activity is in their facilitates in Texas. Go work there, but forget about a long term commitment to this company, they don't seem to care about that. Bye the way take the time to scrutinize the other posts. You'll find the positive ones are people that have interned and barely spent a couple of years. Also, Glass door doesn't do a good job breaking up reviews between business units of large companies. Not all business units are equal.

    Advice to Management

You've a serious communications and accountability problem on your entire campus. But, it pretty obvious to the more experienced that you care little about retention, and maintain the tired old mentality of "we'll just back fill what you do with three college graduates from the U of A"

    Pros

Raytheon has a lot of interesting technology and strives to be a leaded in defense. They have a very grounded mission. There are a lot of opportunities at Raytheon.

    Cons

Transitioning to/from a company like Raytheon can be quite a challenge. They have a lot of niche practices that don't translate at other companies; especially other industries.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing employees and enabling them to deliver results while choosing their own career path. It is important that people are constantly challenged to deliver results, not complete tasks.

    Pros

    - Flexible hours - Guaranteed raises - Good benefits - Difficult to get fired

    Cons

    - Big corporation - Lower salaries depending on contract - Your salary is higher if you are hired from outside the company rather than if you are promoted from the inside

    Pros

None that I have seen in 38 years of working there.

    Cons

No matter how hard you work, they will shoot you down and then step over your dead body. Everyone hates that place, and I'm sure the company themselves are putting in any good reviews you see here. Women are especially treated without regard. It has only gotten worse with the new CEO Tim Kennedy. It's never been great there but now it is hell on earth. I can't wait to retire and feel bad for the young people who have many years to go.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and start treating your good workers with more respect. The worst management is in Patriot. They promote the ones that treat their workers like dogs. There is no reward system. The harder you work the worse they treat you. STAY AWAY!!!

Hard to penetrate the "Good old boys club culture" .

    Pros

Some really interesting and challenging research and development. Many different areas of defense to work in. Lots of projects... Fascinating work.

    Cons

Extremely clickish, constant fear of being replaced by someone for less money. Company hires recent undergraduates to replace senior personnel. The Recent hires do not have the experience to replace senior personnel so they find themselves in an impossible position. Politics over what is best for the company. Sexism and racism are part of the atmosphere of the work environment.... That includes management. Work hours are extreme. To make deadlines usually takes 50-90 hrs a week.

    Advice to Management

Stop replacing senior personnel! Explain to junior management that brown nosing and clicks are not allowed. Become serious about ending sexual harassment and racism in the work place.
