I have been working at Razorfish full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I love the work environment. I get to work on a broad range of projects. Opinions are respected and co-workers are very understanding. It is a relaxed work environment where everyone works hard to achieve common goals. Hours are flexible and there are many holidays and parties.

    Cons

There is a long ladder to climb to move up. Job security depends on happiness of clients.

    Pros

Really smart people doing innovative things. Management is very good at providing feedback and making you feel valued.

    Cons

Slow rate of promotion. Poor work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the value that your employees are giving and pay them what they deserve, especially given the long hours.

I have been working at Razorfish full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Generous holiday schedule, casual work environment, nice office space, great benefits plan, nice corporate discount programs, consistent offerings throughout the year for training and seminars to improve specific skills or knowledge in various areas within the industry.

    Cons

Leadership has changed repeatedly over the years, general feeling of instability, 4 rounds of layoffs since the beginning of 2013, communication is inconsistent company-wide, the culture is borderline abusive and inherently disrespectful between teams, bad behavior is ignored, and in some cases even rewarded, bonuses are non-existent for most employees, merit raises (when they happen) are 1-3%, promotions are a mystery

I have been working at Razorfish

    Pros

    Great co works and pay

    Cons

Less about great creative to inspire and investments. More about unachivable margins forcing presidents to save their necks and make cuts to show hungry board members profits. Remove high paid great performs and higher cheaper contractors and reley on lesser paid personnel to get by

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage your business more to avoid quarterly layoffs and sell in investment years amd build a culter about great work and less about margins.

I have been working at Razorfish full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful working environment, wonderful people, good management, fostering environment for ideas, creativity is often not pushed beyond the ask to meet the client brief

    Cons

Creative work can often be stripped down to bare nuts and bolts. Stagnation can hit in weeks and months with little creative work produced or pushed live. People running the accounts are not as concerned with the opinion of "they're producing great work" more often its "they're making their client happy and meeting expectations of sales/consumer growth/deadlines/coming in on budget.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very smart people, love their clients, creative is often a slave to media advertising, social media, long-term heavy e-commerce site and the occasional big digital idea that exists as a viral campaign, microsite, large-scale cross-platform experience.

Interns: Have a plan and reason to be here or go somewhere else

Former Employee - Art Director Intern in New York, NY
Former Employee - Art Director Intern in New York, NY

I worked at Razorfish as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Lots of people to meet if you're wanting to network actively

    Cons

Not the most creative work being put out, people are generally working on one account, as an intern you get sucked into twitter/facebook posts if working with the wrong team... too bad because more exciting opportunities could have been had (had they valued and utilized the interns more)

I worked at Razorfish full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Cool laid back atmosphere and some projects at times.

    Cons

It's understandable to be a first time jobber or fresh out of college and excepted to learn the ropes so you gain experience.
What's incredibly backwards and outright discrimination is to spend years working to never gain leadership or finance growth because of internal business decisions that failed to materialize. If you put in the quality work regardless of internal issues, you should be able to move forward in your career without all the fakery and it seems that it's impossible to the right thing and be honest without all the schemes. People will manipulate you based what they consider as experience just to save a buck and play your intelligence because they think you're naive. Just know your worth and don't settle on a environment that doesn't appreciate you, no matter how shiny it is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I really don't know if it matters because you are essentially apart of a knowing system that allows this and everyone knows it. Change who you are before you ruin opportunities and this company. We already had layoffs, what's next?

I have been working at Razorfish full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work / life balance is good that you can work from home and number of paid days off are great! Probably the best you'll get out of an agency, thanks to being part of a French holding company. Benefits are also solid. Culture is good. The work is exciting and challenging.

    Cons

Lack if true leadership. Work / life balance may be good to some degree with tons of paid time off BUT you will work on those days off. And more so.
The talent is leaning more towards young folks right out of college instead of experienced experts. Resources are always tight. Training is getting better but not formal.
The company is going thru some changes and is trying to retain business. It's hard to feel valued when recognition isn't there, or when you aren't giving the opportunity to showcase your talent or ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent. Is the organization an Ad Agency or creative shop? Are we focused on bottom line or retaining exceptional talent? Too many questions that are unanswered.

Benefits are worth it alone. very flexible and chill environment

    Cons
