Pros
In a constantly changing digital world, working at ReachLocal is an ever changing and continuously challenging place to work. There is always something new to learn and share. Our local office culture is fun and hard working, and our corporate culture is fun and amazingly supportive. There is respect shown for everyone and it really feels like a Team. The best part of my position with the company is the people I get to work with. Plus, knowing that what we do helps small businesses every day is extremely rewarding!
Cons
Internet marketing is a hugely competitive field. It can be a tough gig, but for those with a great attitude and desire to succeed, this is truly the only place to be!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing! Never lose the ability to inspire employees to be their best.
Pros
The people!!! From the top of the ladder to the bottom, we have what I believe to be the very best employees around. The culture here makes it a pleasure to come to work each day. The compensation and careen growth have been more than I expected for our area.....with still more room to continue moving up.
Cons
The internet space is always evolving, resulting in constant learning and challenging workloads.
Advice to Senior Management
I truly think these guys are the best and couldn't ask for more.
Pros
The culture, office culture, company culture, and senior leadership. The numerous amount of positive recognition in the press and the great accolades from Google is super impressive, and you can't help but feel proud and excited to represent a company with such great awards. Some of the greatest tech companies LOVE ReachLocal.
Cons
Missing the boat on positions that are truly crucial to the success of a sales office...support positions could be better paid. If you didn't love your job-this wouldn't be worth the pay. You choose between loving what you do and the pay scale sometimes.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't think management realizes how important these support positions are and how much they affect the success of the entire sales office. Take a deep dive on the support positions...invest more in support training in the local sales offices. Give them more money or comission, they are working the hardest.
Pros
ReachLocal is an incredible organization from Top Level Management all the way down to local Offices. Not many companies now incorporate a fun lively atmosphere into the workplace, but walk in to a Local ReachLocal Office & you will see ping pong table, couch, Flat-Screen, CornHole, & more. That’s part of what makes working for ReachLocal so great. I am fortunate to have been given an opportunity, I came from the yellowpage background & I was making well over 6 figures I took a risk coming into the company starting from the ground up building up my book, but I am very very glad I did. They do things the right way from monthly National Sales Calls, Quarterly Global Sales Calls etc....the Top Level Management has done a great job structuring the system so it all works together like a well oiled Machine.
ReachLocal knows that local online marketing is an ever-growing part of society, and they are always on the forefront of the digital marketing evolution. I am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful family oriented organization.
Cons
Learning the Platform & being able to properly set up campaigns is time-consuming & once at the right level an AM can be hired to assist.
Advice to Senior Management
Better Explain from the beginning what a Book is, how it's based on spend, what carry forward is, just an overall better explanation of exactly how the Pay Structure is set-up & the ramp up time before you will see significant commissions.
Pros
We by far are the biggest and the best company in our industry and lead the space with a killer technology platform.
Cons
Competition within the industry is tough and sometimes due to Reachlocal's fast growth somethings are not done in what seems like a timely matter, but with so much growth comes some growing pains.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the Customer's and the IMC's even more, and don't fall into the manage by Wall Street numbers trap.
Pros
Teamwork, Dedication, Opportunity for Growth, Constant Learning, Supportive Management Team, Amazing Work Environment and Most of all Happiness Within the Work Place!
Cons
Working in different buildings from the other departments. I would love to be able to interact with them more. I think it would help communication.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue doing what you are currently doing. The support is appreciated and makes my job so much easier. It's Great!
Pros
The good thing about working at ReachLocal is that if you put in the work and take the time to understand the product and the industry then you will do very well. Management gives you the opportunity to make a good living. The focus is all about serving our clients.
Cons
Long Hours. Hard work, but I guess that's what's expected with any job that you want to do well with.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the great work and stay focused on product development.
Pros
* Extremely talented/technical staff
* Amazing technology leadership
* Great opportunity to advance
* An atmosphere that inspires education
Cons
There is too much going on to be involved in all of the projects
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on what we do best.
Pros
ReachLocal is an industry leader with great products for SMB's. Office atmosphere is casual-focus is on getting the job done. A minimum of b.s. meetings, paperwork and silly sales contests. Peers are good to excellent sales professionals. Top management is quite accessible for a company of this size. No pressure to sell particular products therefore I can tailor a package to fit my prospect. Sales material, client reporting is outstanding.
Cons
This is hard work. You need to be constantly balancing prospecting, sales and managing your accounts. It is taking me longer than I thought to get to the big payday, although it is happening.
A fast-growing company has growing pains, mostly in the area of operations. Since all support functions are remote, it is a little more difficult to trouble-shoot and problem-solve.
All things considered, I'd rather be at a great,fast-moving company with some "glitches" than the old-media dinosaur with the myopic, arrogant managment and failing products that I came from.
Advice to Senior Management
Definitely would like to see a revised commission structure that rewards IMC's as they hit various revenue levels.
Pros
ReachLocal encourages and open forum for new ideas and works hard to provide an atmosphere where their employees are comfortable and knowledgeable in their positions. While there are stressful days each department has a strong foundation of people willing and able to help where they can.
Cons
Some of the sales demands can be overwhelming and the knowledge of the space (online marketing and advertising) is still changing. It is important to start off strong, dedicating the necessary time to learning about the space and the products ReachLocal offers to be a successful sales person.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to praise openly and discipline privately. Everyone likes feedback about the work they are doing, as a way to improve. Shout-outs are important for everyone, as people work harder when you acknowledge the hard work they are doing.
