I have been working at Reading Area Community College full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits medical, dental benefits. Paid time off. Leadership like no other. Looking forward to continued changes.

    Cons

Some people have a sense of entitlement and fail to appreciate the small things. Change is good but everyone must buy into new changes. Better communication across not just small division silos.

I have been working at Reading Area Community College

    Pros

There is a sense of comradorie amongst each department. There is a closer connection to the students that we work with. Pressure to perform is no more than one atmosphere.

    Cons

There is a lot of maneuvering around red tape if you want to make changes in the way things are done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your underlings more genuinely. Look into the student body for untapped talent.

I worked at Reading Area Community College part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most collegiate tutoring centers are by appointment only (i.e. students make an appointment to see a tutor for a 30 minute individual session). RACC's tutoring center operates on a walk-in, first-come, first-serve basis. The problem with this model is most of the time, there is only one tutor working because the others have called in "sick".

    Cons

    Lack of staff
    Low pay ($9/hour)
    Ineffective management
Student population is high need - easy to burn out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have tutoring scheduled by appointment only; pay tutors more than $9/hour with no raises ever.

    Doesn't Recommend

Very slow-paced, boring and some co-workers were very rude.

    Cons

Specifically n the IT department many of the other co-workers are downright rude, profane and stuck-up.
