I worked at RealFoundations as a contractor (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Share work-space with some of the most knowledgeable minds in the various sectors of RE Industry. Clients are typically in the top Fortune 500. High level of expectations of performance and execution of staff by leadership. Vast amount of knowledge and training tools available than most firms. Respected in the industry.

    Cons

Typical projects require 80% or more travel. Leadership development/staff mentoring not a primary focus, so new hires must arrive locked and loaded or navigate how to "boot strap" their own careers within the confines of their project team/office environment. (If you are on a blue chip team, your chances of advancement are good; if you are a self motivated, intelligent, observant member of the team... if not... well you know how this story goes.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more of your time with staff showing them the ropes, teaching them the trade secrets and cases of client/team wins... Reactivate and staff RFAcademy (Consulting 101) and give earned praise soon and publicly... correct poor performance with appropriate but motivating measures. Rethink roundtables. Get better at resolving challenging client demands/relations.

    Pros

Excellent exposer to different aspects of the real estate industry. Collegues are knowledgable and for the most part east to work with. They have high expectations for all of their consultants.

    Cons

Lots of travel and time spent away from home. Hours are long and work can be tedious and sometimes boring!

    Pros

A great company to start your career with in Europe and Worldwide.
Great top management et corporate culture, salaries quite competitive for the industry. Leader in its field by far compared to other practices.

    Cons

The company is smaler in Europe than in the US where it is the biggest. Nevertheless, it makes the opportunities of progression more likely and offer a better potential for graduates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on going that way !

I have been working at RealFoundations

    Pros

    Industry focus
    Company values and ethical standards
Emphasis on collegiality and knowledge sharing
    Focus on solving client problems
    Internal support for problem solving
    A wealth of smart people

    Cons

    Travel requirement
Lack of consistent brand messaging to the market
Too many parts of the business (non-core consulting) are in start-up mode...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the core of consulting and limit the number of other ventures started at any given time
Continue to communicate trends and topics to employees
More aggressively differentiate from inferior competitors who don't have the same intellectual fire power or focus on delivering quality solutions that solve business problems.
