Pros
Benefits for an hourly employee.
Cons
I worked for real estate companies for 10 years in Washington State making more money than I'm currently being paid by the #1 Coldwell Banker (the last 3 years in a row) office I work for. Within the last 24 hours I was given my review which consisted of a piece of paper that showed my 2.25% pay increase. The Branch Manager never addressed the required review form I spent 2 days working on. Management ignores issues that are brought to their attention, they are only concerned about "what the agents are talking about".
The 12.47/hour (by the way, the 0.47 is the raise I was given for an "Exceed Expectations" comment on the pay rate increase) I'm being paid isn't enough for me to jeapordize any relationship I've developed with 75 agents.
If you're looking for an hourly job, a Realogy company is not a good choice. Now I understand why some of our long-term agents are very disappointed with Coldwell Banker.
Advice to Senior Management
Management keeps implementing programs with deadlines to be met - pay your admins for the job they do and the abuse they take from real estate agents.
Pros
Big company, dry cleaners, gym and cafeteria.
Cons
I liked it so much better when it was Cendant. The don't pay that well and they don't have many opportunities for growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Be mindful of your employees and appreciate their efforts.
Pros
It's a job in a time when jobs are hard to come by. Hopefully it will stay that way long enough for the rest of the job market to recover.
Cons
There is no 401k matching. Other benefits have slowly been whittled away over the last few years. Bonuses are a figment of your imagination unless you're a coveted sales manager or top level executive. Many realtors act like spoiled children and throw tantrums when they don't get their way. They're like regular sales people turned up to eleven.
Advice to Senior Management
Operate like it's one company rather than 20 small ones.
Pros
I belong to technology field; and Realogy have good reputation for technical innovations..
Also, they would pay you THE BEST in the market.
and if you are working on Corporate Center, you will love the atmosphere and amenities they provide...
over all it gives you feel of working in luxurious environment :-)
Cons
As I said, they pay you the best; It's a lot more then what the position deserves... the point is, they SPEND INSENSIBLY!!!! They were in boom when Realestate was in boom, but, they have fallen on their face as the realestate came down.. and THESE INSENSIBLE EXPENSIS WILL let them down even further
Advice to Senior Management
BE SINSIBLE
Pros
Used to be a place where if you performed you made great money. If you didn't you did not stay long. Had years where you could make great money when you surpassed your goals.
Cons
Company lost its way. Focussed to much on its money losing company owned locations and squeezed the life out of its Franchise Operations. No wonder the franchisees don't have the tools to make it thru this downturn when 75 cents of every dollar they brought in in royalties became gross profit. In essence Richard Smith and his dominions have killed the proverbial Golden Goose.
Advice to Senior Management
Break yourself apart and sell yourself to ownership that actually care about their employees and franchisees.
Pros
It's a job? It's a paycheck? The severance package sounds decent from what the hundreds of people the company has let go say.
Cons
No bonuses
No raises
No 401k match
No opportunity for advancement
Recognition for a job well done is lipservice without any reward
Upper managment don't seem to be suffering financially the way the other employees are
Below standard salaries, which seem to be shrinking due to increased benefits costs
Understaffed and shrinking more every day
Richard Smith has been wrong about every real estate prediction he has made for the past 3 years. The now "housing crisis" was just "a little downturn that the market experiences every few years". We even were shown a historical graph of the last 30 years and how this was a little hiccup. Some of us knew better back 3 years ago. Not all of us are drinking the Kool Aid Richard.
Open door policy to CEO? sure, just don't try it.
We have "Town Hall" pep talks to keep us all calm and not searching for other employment. They want to keep you there until they decide they don't need you. Realogy is truly run like a "Corporation" - they have no interest in their employees lives. We're not shareholders or have any financial value.
Advice to Senior Management
Use your own advice: "Tell The Truth"
Pros
Depends on the economy. Money is good during good times.
Cons
No loyalty towards their employees....except for the upper management folks with golden parachutes. Good 'ol boys network. Politics galore. Realtors are the hardest people to work with considering that they're just glorified used car salesmen.
Advice to Senior Management
Think of your workers for once in your life... hint to Terry Dwyer, CIO of Realogy.
Pros
At least I have a job and that is why I am working. There are not a lot of opportunities in the workplace right now, so something is better than nothing. However, it is hard to come in everyday and hear about another cut in expenses or see that your counter part has been let go and now it is your responsibility to take on tasks you know nothing about. The work load has always been more than one person could handle in a day, now it is insummountable. Everyone is on edge and the atmosphere at one campus is terrible.
Cons
Employees take all the cuts
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to your employees more
Pros
Food is ok. Most co-workers are nice and friendly. We all understand the situation.
Cons
Crappy Terrible Pay. Even before the company started to tank. If you want to be underpaid for ghard work, apply to Realogy. Senior Management thinks about nothing but themselves. Working with realtors is like dealing with a bunch of disgruntled housewives and grumpy men, both young and old. They are just about a rung on the ladder above a used-car salesman. Hard work goes unappreciated time and time again.
The equation is quite simple....Hard Work + No Reward = Realogy.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop thinking about only yourselves and stop taking advantage of innocent , hard-working employees to make a buck. You know who you are. Greed Greed Greed. Its really a shame.
Pros
The building is heated, you get a desk and chair.
Cons
Cold-hearted management, great place to work if you are part of the select boys club that surrounds Richard Smith. Otherwise, be prepared to grovel and to work yourself sick.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut your salaries and compensation and stop ruining your employees' lives.
