Pros
RB is one of the best companies to work in the world. It is a great place to develop personal skills, team leadership, teamwork and ownership. You can learn how to outperform in RB easily. Entrepreneurship is really significant. They encourage you to put unique ideas on the table.
Cons
There are not many downsides. Only work-life balance !
Advice to Senior Management
If they sort out work life balance issue, RB will be the best place to work!
Pros
- decent Pay
- decent gym
Cons
- culture is terrible
- blaming games
- high turnover/firing
- inexperience workers
- location is horrible if you're commuting from NYC(middle of nowhere NJ)
Advice to Senior Management
- need to recruit more skilled/experienced workers.
- too many recent MBA graduates with no working experience.
Pros
RB is a very aggressive company and it really appreciate you when you are doing well. You will be praised like a God here. It also one of the highest paid salary company if you have a good reputation. Incentives are really good. They have 5 types of incentives to motivate you
Cons
Eventhough, you'll be paid well, you need to sacrifice smth to get where you want to be which is your personal life. When you are sick, you will still be forced to deliver the number. Its a result-driven company. Salary paid in here is ridiculous. Your colleague in the same level can have 2x higher than yours and the boss' favourite can do anything here.
The boss is working on weekends too so he expects the employees to work the same hours as his! Its a shame that eventhough its a result-driven company, it never looks on whats important in employee's life which is life-work balance. Overall, thats what most employees wants in most companies, right?
Advice to Senior Management
You work is not your life! you work to live - not the other ways. Have some balance please...
Pros
Good Salary and benefits
You can move up through the company very quickly
International mobility
Some good people...who are very bright, just overworked and sad all the time
Cons
Sr. Mgmt doesn't care about your personal life
Everything is in the open...no closed cubes or offices...people are constantly in your business
Nothing makes sense and everything is a dog and pony show...The only thing that makes a difference is the equity of the brands
If you are not part of the Sr. Mgmt club, forget about longevity
Pointless meetings all the time
ABSOLUTELY no training....you are EXPECTED to know what you are doing
Forget about your social life, working out, family...your life WILL be dedicated to Reckitt...Trust me!!!
Horrible commute...anywhere in NJ and I feel bad for those folks that live in the city. They are dedicated to Reckitt 6am to 9pm with commute.
Nobody really wants to help you, they are just in it for their own reputation
Not thought of as a good work environment by any CPG company...There is a reason!
Advice to Senior Management
What are you doing? There is a reason people leave all the time and turnover is so frequent. Hire more people, give people more time for their own needs. Nobody really wants to dedicate their life to a company...and the small percentage that do, feel sorry for them.
Pros
The company has this mantra about being very "entrepreneurial" and they definitely mean it. If you have a great idea you can make it known to the mgmt team and run with it. A lot of great ideas have come from simple brainstorming/innovation discussions and have made their way to commercialization quickly. The project is yours to own, which provides great learning experience but can also be very intense and puts a fair bit of pressure on your reputation.
RB is a very intense organization, so its not for everyone. Oftentimes you'll have to work long days into the late evening to get projects completed. The company also puts a lot of emphasis into global mobility. There's no such thing as an "Expat" in RB. You could be an Associate Brand Manager in New Jersey for a year or two then move on to Spain for a promotion opportunity. On one hand this is really exciting but can also be a little concerning too, especially if you have children. Often these global moves are a one-way ticket. In other words, you aren't there for any specific amount of time and there's no job waiting for you back in the US. For the rising stars in the company, the career path often leads to Slough, UK (London) for a leadership role in the Global HQ.
Cons
Work-Life balance sometimes leans too far on the "Work" side of the spectrum. If you're not from the Northeast, New Jersey isn't exactly the best place to live/work. It's VERY expensive and the people in NJ and NYC aren't always the nicest around.
Pros
Fast Moving.
Thrown into the deep. Real challenge.
Travel opportunities.
Cons
Poor compensation. Pay depends on HR preference and manager preference.
Located in really terrible locations.
Poor people development programs.
Advice to Senior Management
Give some indication of where contributions will lead to.
Pros
The ability to live abroad and bear witness to ture global business activity and principal. Advancment if you care to put off oyur personal life.
Cons
Ah, where to begin. Let's just say that MGMT is undermining productivity. Under-educated and inexperienced associates, usually those right out of University are given key roles due to immense employee turn over. Culture is rubbish though overshadowed by above average pay. Weak US Market leadership has eroded any sense of positive morale. All about the bottom-line, sustainibility is a concern. (corp)
Advice to Senior Management
Mass cultural overhall begining at GM level. Work-Life balance in non-existant. Dog+Pony shows in the summertime as sales plays up to Senior MGMT through the "planning process" is a waste of time. Overhaul in many areas... too deep to describe without giving up the "person behind the post."
Pros
Pay and benefits are ok
Cons
You are not expected to have a life outside work.
Advice to Senior Management
Think of the ordinary employees. People have lives outside work.
Pros
HR Benifits are good and most people are enjoyable to be around and work with when you see them.
Cons
They have little loyalty and respect for their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
You hire good people. Stop micromanaging everything and allow employees to exemplify what you claim to be the core values.
Pros
They are very helpful in helping you to achieve your goals.
Cons
You have to be independent
Advice to Senior Management
Be an independent person
