    Pros

The RSD culture is founded on a mission focused work environment. One of the key core values of the RSD is that is always puts kids first -- before politics or adults.

    Cons

The main con is the uncertainty as to how long the RSD will continue to last before it is eventually dissolved and its functions return to the Orleans Parish School Board.

    Not the best

    Pros

I worked with great people aka fellow teachers.

    Cons

Very poor leadership and very little accountability. The district was more focused on gaining charter schools than trying to fix the existing schools. Students weren't given their necessary services and things were just a mess.

  3.

My experiences with RED have been positive with the students.

    Pros

The best aspect of the job is the students. The students make the job worth getting up early in the morning and staying late in the afternoon.

    Cons

Leadership, employee turnover, pay, constant leadership philosophy change, frequent curriculum changes, emphasis on testing, emphasis on data and lack of technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees by communicating with them and paying them fairly.

    Pros

I love the hours, the pay and weekends off. The workers were nice to work with, well some of them were.

    Cons

Always changing policies and not considering the effects on the children and teachers. Top heavy salary wise. Need to go back to Poland avenue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Visit the schools more often, sit down and talk to the teachers and students.

    Pros

The students are lively, humorous and lovable.

    Cons

Exceedingly low student achievement, limited resources, long hours and extended school days/years, no consequences for absenteeism, unrealistic expectations of teachers, continual band-aid solutions to root problems (i.e. providing "a laptop per student" when students cannot read), poor staff support, constantly changing policies, and corrupt district bureaucracy.

You are working for a failing school so you have to work harder with the students.
