Advice to Senior Management
Value employees , Donors and Reciepents
Pros
Mission focused company, with many dedicated volunteers and staff.
Cons
Post-merger chaos - very disruptive
Advice to Senior Management
The recent leadership changes have been beneficial.
Pros
The mission is unmatched...blood donations are crucial and necessary!
Cons
Not realistic or up-front AT ALL about the real hours or activities involved in this position.
Advice to Senior Management
increase professionalism. be honest with new-hires.
Pros
Great mission, mostly great co-workers, nice donors, excellent training, union representation, comparable pay to other phlebotomy jobs, great entry level opportunity, amazing volunteers
Cons
Long shifts sometimes in excess of 12 hours, not for anyone with a family, medium to heavy manual labor required almost daily, management treats with disdain, lack of communication, poor benefits outside traditional medical, lack of recognition for good work, cliques and favoritism, unrealistic expectations.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to understand they are expecting miracles while not giving employees the tools nor respect for what they do. Work on scheduling issues, having enough staff to complete the goal, and above all else - SEVERAL UNITS OF BLOOD ARE NOT WORTH THE RISK OF YOUR EMPLOYEES LIVES OR HEALTH.
Pros
great friends and work environment
Cons
sometimes it can be a little boring and it may feel like you do the same thing over and over
Advice to Senior Management
let us take a 10 minute break
Pros
Big brand, passionate employees, great location, experiences like no other, never a dull moment, decent paid-time off, flexible schedules, global exposure
Cons
Career development is not a priority, ancient systems, outdated technology, hard to get approval for training,...there would be more but I hear that the mgmt just made a smart move and got rid of most of the dead weight from the good ole boy years...about time!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up! The changes made this year is what is going to keep current supporters, persuade those that have not been willing, grab hold of the ones about to emerge, and secure the ones yet to even be born!
Pros
Humanitarian mission, in helping others, informing and educating public on needs of donating blood and doing humanitarian work for others. First response to disasters.
Cons
Cons about working with a non-profit organization is the compensation and benefits at a job market level. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work for what we do.
Advice to Senior Management
As a employee for many years of organization i would like to see more workshops for employees, that will help motivate them and encourage them of the red cross mission.
Pros
It's a relaxed working environment. There are many opportunities to learn about different job functions and how a non-profit organization functions. There are diversity inclusion days, and social events for the employees. You would be helping the community. I had many opportunities to interact with people and talk to victims of local disasters.
Cons
I worked for one of the branches of Red Cross and it is relatively small. We had trouble getting volunteers, and the lack of volunteers affected our work. Resources are limited too, so there are limited funds for the organization to spend on its office facilities.
Advice to Senior Management
More enthusiastic fund raising efforts to help the organization. More aggressive strategies to bring volunteers/ employers together. Look for permanent employees.
Pros
Learned plenty of things and lifesaving skills
Cons
Hard to find supplies in workplace
Pros
The mission is compelling, the work is fulfilling, and the leadership is outstanding. I am incredibly proud to work here.
Cons
There always appears to be an issue in getting donations to the organization when disasters aren't happening. I wish there was more of an effort to capture the public interest when things are going well, instead of when disaster strikes.
Advice to Senior Management
It's a tough job, but please keep doing what you know to be right. I've been impressed with our leadership, and have the utmost faith in what you are doing!
