The Owners (Golin Brothers) Of This Company Have No Idea What They're Doing

I worked at Regency Theatres full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people on the floor level. Co-workers are all in the suffering together. Respect from managers except for the few with a napoleon complex.

    Cons

Broken, mismanaged and micromanaged, severely underpaid. The GM has no power, all orders come from the Golins (owners) who know nothing about running a theater. They care nothing about presentation quality, all their equipment is ancient. Their procedures are horrible, we'd be closing up at 3am even if the last show was at 11pm. Would force us to clock out and continue to work to avoid overtime.

    Advice to Management

Let your GM's run the individual theaters. Don't assume you know how to fix things if you're never there. You are clueless when it comes to theater operations and all your pointless rules make working there a pain. The infrastructure of your nightly procedures are redundant and outdated making your employees do way more work than needed and staying overtime because of the broken system. You care nothing about your projection equipment and spend no effort in improving your theaters.

I have been working at Regency Theatres part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

free popcorn free soda free movies thats about it truthfully

    Cons

Managers who sexually harrass female employees Low pay No advancement Assistant manager ego's Staff hours get cut constantly making it hard for employees to complete the expectations the theater owners want General managers who take their personal lives into the workplace

    Advice to Management

When the corporate office receives a complaint of sexual harassment of employee's you should probably get rid of the problem or your going to end up dealing with some serious consequences. Acknowledge the hard work your floor staff puts out to make the theater money and a raise or two every once in awhile wouldn't hurt.

I have been working at Regency Theatres full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-New learning opportunities -Experience in a fast paced environment

    Cons

-Sexual harassment claims ignored -Often not helpful District Managers with little care for their jobs -Culture focused on making money at expense of others -No benefits for Assistant Managers, limited them to part time status to avoid providing healthcare -Incentives for frontline employees are almost non-existant, free movies limited to Mon-Thurs unlike employees in other theatre chains -District Manager Dwight Morgan exercised authoritarian rule over his General Managers, allowing them little control over their assigned locations -Worked for the company for six years and yet I never received an official performance appraisal

    Advice to Management

Revamp the entire culture of the company.

I worked at Regency Theatres part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

$1 hot dogs, free movies(Mon-Thurs), good hours if that manager favorites you.

    Cons

You don't get any hours if they don't favorite you. They ask you to do 5 thousand things at once and to have it done in 5-10 minutes. One of the lazy supervisors will pass my a big pile of popcorn and instead of sweeping it herself she'll ask someone that's already doing something to sweep it up. I honestly don't know how she became a supervisor. The manager that provides favoritism to some of the employees is fake and pretends that she cares but in the end she talks bad about you to other employees This whole theatre is a mess....

    Advice to Management

    Good Luck!

I have been working at Regency Theatres part-time

    Pros

There are really no pros to working for this company. Just half priced concessions and free movies. Sometimes.

    Cons

Regency Theatres has an extreme hatred for its employees. They won't pay us any higher and make us sign our right to unionize or risk being fired. They want to make sure that they pay us the lowest amount of money possible.

    Advice to Management

Get yourselves straight. You need to stop acting like we aren't people.

I worked at Regency Theatres part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a very self explanatory job. It's a great introduction to working. It's a fun environment and the free movies are a plus. You'll get to know/interact with some really cool customers. Hard work is really appreciated.

    Cons

Very often under staffed and half the employees working won't do thier jobs anyways. Poor management. Be prepared to lose faith in humanity. Though hard work is appreciated, it's hardly rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Address the way Andrew treats employees. Actually use six month reviews and work with employees who cannot or will not do thier respective jobs.

I have been working at Regency Theatres part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great sense of teamwork. Especially if your theatre location is a small one. Good place to pick up basic job skills in customer service. Free popcorn and soda. Flexible schedule. Lots of downtime to bond with coworkers. Being able to see movies for free is a perk, but the policy on it is somewhat dumb (cannot be on a weekend, movie must be out of the first week of showing, can only bring one person with you, must have a manager notify theatre of your arrival, you have to sign something when you arrive)

    Cons

Corporate is full of cheap, greedy business mongols. They will make sure you get paid as minimum as possible. No benefits. At all. In fact, your hours are capped at 28.5/week (even managers) because to go over 30 would force them to pay your insurance. If your GM doesn't favor you, prepare to get virtually no hours at all. No raises, even for those working for over 2 years. Corporate is way too cheap to update their equipment, hence the reputation of Regency as being a rundown theatre. Employee discounts are a joke. $1 off concessions.

    Advice to Management

Try actually caring about your employees and treat them like people rather than expendable drones.
