Had a lot of promise but grew too quickly and can't deliver what they say.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good ideas from many smart people. Benefits are good (same as other biotechs/pharmas I've worked).

    Cons

It feels like you can't do anything without getting management approval. RAs, admins, and other support staff are just support not truly valued members.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let us do our work. We may not have MDs, JDs, or PhDs but we actually do know things. Plan a little better and give us some guidance but don't micromanage. You don't have to yell at us to get better work just treat us as peers and listen to what we are saying.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    -Intelligent Employees
    - friendly colleagues
    - good place to start your career

    Cons

HR is HORRIBLE! Entire IT helpdesk level 1 and 2 is outsourced with C3i which is the worst to work for as you get absolutely no career development or advancement and the pay is well below average. i started as an Intern and then was brought with c3i (i only did it for the experience) . Do not make a career here, take what you learn and move to somewhere better fast. Was promised reviews and never received them. There was only one IT manager that actually recognized the outsourced employees for their hard work and truthfully he should be in charge or IT

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This may or may not be on the horizon but the entire IT dept needs a makeover starting from the top down

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Intelligent employees
    -Free gym
-Younger employees at the lowest level, easy to make friends

    Cons

-Horrible management - they will lie on your reviews and HR will not care despite you bringing them physical proof. Many managers are managers only because they have a PhD, not because they have proven any leadership skills.
-Some managers discriminate against their female scientists and HR will not do a thing
-Despite acting like they encourage internal transfers, it's not true; you won't even get a "thanks, but no thanks"
-ZERO career development opportunities - a minion is a minion, that is, until you leave. It's a decent place to start, take your experience, and RUN.
-The company works their employees into the ground and pay nothing until they can't take it anymore - then act like they just were't good enough to hack it when they all quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide actual career development opportunities and career paths. Hire managers who genuinely care about being leaders, not just someone because they have a PhD. Management training and sensitivity training should be required. Stop being so arrogant and believing that this is the best place to work, your turnover rate says otherwise.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy to get a job. Recent stock price pop.

    Cons

Inept middle management comprising of bored overweight people scared of each other like rats in a can. Upper management are in an ivory tower looking down on their peons. No vacation time, no sick days, benefits are below industry standard, pay is way below average. Inundated with useless initiatives , such as team-building exercises and other innovations circa 1980s.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Brilliant business model, highly educated workforce, dynamic approach to the discovery and research of molecules.

    Cons

No training, difficult chains of command, disorganized, big personalities, adversarial attitude between departments, little room for a learning curve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put together an immersive training program, make sure that you make people aware of their responsibilities when they begin their role, organize your hierarchy in such a way as to get synergy between functional groups, make sure that you are aware that there is an adversarial atmosphere between functional departments.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Stock options, but if you got into the company early.
    - Company Pipeline.
    - Organization Stability

    Cons

    - Employees are treated worthless here. If you go try to discuss your future here, you will be told that there are far too many other high priority things the HR is busy with or you will be asked to find your opportunities inside or outside the company.
    - The company is playing catchup without a clear plan. They want to accomplish everything all at once. The Management is trying to accomplish too many initiatives without caring about how well they are implemented.
    - Extremely stressful environment with little respect for people.
    - Average benefits with low pay. The company feels that they are not in NYC, so they can get away with lower salaries. Beware and please note that the location has high cost of living.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Hiring is of no use if you end up driving away your current talent (attrition).
    - Lack of decision making and accountability results in projects taking extremely long to implement.
    - Micromanagement needs to go away. This is no longer the same small company it used to be.
    - Your employees deserve higher base pay.
    - One of the most horrible appraisal process in the corporate world.
    - Lacking employee development plan.

Current Employee - Staff Scientist in Tarrytown, NY

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The pipeline is exciting and the people are friendly.

    Cons

The company processes are lacking and communication between groups is poor. The management cares more about getting products into the clinic then making processes more efficient and the lives of employees easier. The company also has an over-inflated opinion of itself and is not open to process improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage innovation, listen to new ideas, and facilitate rather than stifle communication. It would be nice if the company lived its stated core values (Regeneron 5) rather than the values being a running joke. It's amazing how fast we can move drugs through the pipeline but how slow we are when it comes to addressing employee concerns.
