I worked at Region of Peel as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Limited growth opportunities if you do not brown-nose.

    Cons

Contract staff in a state of perpetual limbo- you will feel like a second class citizen despite the Regional values that are constantly extolled. Some colleagues have been on contact for too long (5+ years).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to limit contract staff or convert them to full-time.

I have been working at Region of Peel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The Region of Peel pays well and the benefits are good. There are opportunities for growth and development and they are an equal opportunity employer.

    Cons

Working for the Region of Peel is very unpredictable in a bad way. Employees are constantly unsure of their job stability and there is never a moments peace. The people at the top makes decision without consulting the staff or realizing the impact on families when decisions are made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to connect with the Employees. Remember that at some point you were where we are. You cannot expect the same amount of staff that you had 20 years ago to service a growing population like Brampton in todays world. Clearly the need is there for the staff why have people on contract for years without a permanent position.
