Pros
The opportunities on a corporate level. In Birmingham AL, the opportunities are endless if you are willing to relocate. Senior Management listen and try to provide solutions.
Cons
If you want a promotion with a pay raise, it is best to leave the company. I've seen it time after time, great candidates are bypassed because senior managers are looking for a quick fix instead of investing in current employees.
Pros
Regions has great training and took good care of all of its workers. The salary is slightly above average for most positions compared to at other banks.
Cons
Not the easiest place to try and enhance or progress your career. You may get stuck at an entry level job for longer than you would like.
Advice to Senior Management
I recommend trying to open up more opportunities for progression and promotions within the company. Other than that, good job.
Pros
Company is ethical, mnagement is supportive. Regions has a good franchise and is working hard to serve its customers better every day.
Cons
Troubled times mean uncertainty. In my part of the bank, expense control is overdone, though in fairness, it is a good thing in challenging financial times for success and retention of jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Current management is doing a great job and is managing for us to survive an an independent bank. Keep it up.
Pros
before the mergers recognition was a way of life. pay was good and per diem for travel were standard along with stock options
Cons
after merger and economic downturn, management shuffled to keep earnings and things began to go down hill there. the reporting has not been very clear on whether or not the stock will ever recover and the tone taken with employees was not good. Even if you were profitable with your book some subjective goal was used to manipulate the situation.
Advice to Senior Management
the write down of loans will continue so it may be best tosell the bank
Pros
Everyone is very nice and people truly want to help. HR is great, Upper management is awesome, and Regions has a pretty good reputation
Cons
i don't have any cons for the company. it is like every other bank. Unorganized, bureaucratic , and slow to move up
Advice to Senior Management
Keep everyone on the same team. We need transparent communication and goals that are actually obtainable. Quality accounts over quantity.
Pros
Great group of people but that varies by branch. Customer service is what really sells Regions and separates the company from other institutions.
Cons
Can be stressful because of the amount of responsibility you have and there are some things that are beyond your control that could land you in hot water. Also, you deal with people and their money so if they have issues with their account, the conversation can get heated if not handled in an appropriate manner.
Pros
great employees in branches great working environment
Cons
choices of branch mgrs based on sales and not banking experience
Pros
Great benefits and work/life balance
Good repore with management
Easy deadlines
Cons
Not enough feedback
Promotions are slow
Silo management; resistent to change
Advice to Senior Management
Continue communicating with employees
Pros
It is a good place to learn standard bank operating procedures and government standards for banking. It is a good place to learn cash handling and basic teller functionality. It is a large bank, but still has the feel of a small community bank.
Cons
It is very difficult to transfer or to advance from your current position. Current bank fees are high and customer dissatisfaction is becoming greater as fees increase, making it even harder to reach sales quotas.
Advice to Senior Management
Allowing more room for advancement and growth would help teller become more focused on improving customer service and satisfaction. Also, robotic greetings and thank you's (when required at all times with each and every customer) make it difficult to be genuine and helpful in determining customer needs and making sales happen.
Pros
Local management and work atmosphere; decent bonuses if you are able to exceed your goals; flexible work schedule as long as meeting goals
Cons
Corporate executives seem to have a lack of concern for their employees. Seem to be very focused on making money for themselves while cutting out perks and cutting bonuses for staff that actually produces businesses. Lack of communication on where the company it going.
Advice to Senior Management
Strive to be more in tune with what actually gets results. Decrease reporting and meeting to allow staff to focus on business development. Determine what information is absolutely crucial and the most efficient way to obtain this information. Request the input of employees who will be the end users of new procedures and initiatives to determine anticipated results.
