I have been working at Regions Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I've worked for this company for over 5 years. The atmosphere is great. There are a lot of wonderful associates. The job isn't difficult if you are willing to work hard.

    Cons

The pay is not great, especially if you are promoted within. The company has gone to a more sales approach, where it is very pushy. Banking has changed a lot in the last few years and I feel like Regions is trying to figure out how handle the change by throwing a lot of different micro management procedures at their associates. In return, morale is being lost and people are leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out an approach and stick with it. If you are constantly changing how you want us to do things, we will stay frustrated. It's hard to stay positive when we don't know the direction we're going in.

I worked at Regions Financial full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The associates at Regions are the best. The company has a strong culture and very loyal associates. Very generous benefits and vacations. Good work environment.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement beyond branch management. Nearly impossible to move out of consumer banking. Company would rather hire outside candidates than qualified internal candidates. Compensation is terrible, as are raises. Sales goals are very high. Bankers are expected to sell, sell, sell and make outbound phone calls on a weekly basis. Company has reached quarterly financial goals by cost cutting and, boy, does it show.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regions should look to hire candidates for positions internally rather than just giving lip service to associates. Also, banking is not all about sell, sell, sell. Sometimes it really is about taking care of customers and not trying to sell a loan, checking account or annuity. Pay more, too much greed at the top.

    Pros

Good training and career growth opportunities. Benefits and pay are competitive.

    Cons

The culture that is touted in their values is not the culture of the actual company. Micro-managment is a problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

great corporate culture, motivating and inspiring senior leadership, opportunity to advance with hard work

    Cons

pay rate seems low for the level responsibility given to my position

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retention is stated as an important goal for management at the bank, but it would seem more value is placed on paying outside recruits than paying current employees.

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work hours are great. Get the right location and hitting your goals will be a breeze.

    Cons

Get in a slower branch, goals become extremely difficult, and outbound cold calling is a must to hit goals. Days can be extremely slow. Hitting your customer service goal only counts if you other goals, if you don't hit other goals it's like customer service doesn't matter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to value the quality of business that comes in VS the quantity. It makes it very tough to be successful in an affluent market.

I have been working at Regions Financial part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great team, reasonable sales goals, understanding management! Like any job, you get out what you put in, however, this company makes it clear that it values its employees and offers a lot of support/ coaching/ mentoring

    Cons

I was part-time so there were no huge downsides but I guess it depends on the branch that you work at and the pace of work that you prefer.
