Pros
Regis is full of very nice people to work with and provides a great environment to learn from those people. Never do you feel like you can't ask a a question if you do not know what to do.
Cons
Recently there has been a lot of battles going on with the Corporation and its shareholders which definitely causes some tension within the workplace
Advice to Senior Management
Keep interacting with the employees to keep moral up. You have asked them to do a lot more around the workplace and positive feedback will keep them wanting to do so.
Pros
Opportunity to work with a variety tech
Flexible scheduling
Lots of friendly and talented coworkers who deserve to be treated better
Cons
Poor leadership from the top down
Way too many meetings
Extremely thin staffing in IT
Complete lack of direction
Will take the word of contractors over employees every time.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your act together. You have employees that will work hard for you, use them and don't treat them like warm bodies and numbers on a balance sheet.
Pros
flexible work schedule if you are in the right department
Cons
Medical Plan has extremely high deductibles, PTO is not competative, not enough hours in the day to do the work required.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize those that work hard for the company.
Pros
People, values of company and management, flexibility
Cons
The pay is below average and career paths are limited
Advice to Senior Management
Keep developing corporate and field employees to be number one, billion dollar player in industry
Pros
I like working at Regis more because of the relationships with the clientele and other stylists.
Cons
benefits package for stylists isnt all that great
Pros
The company has flexible work hours, which makes it nice if you a family with children that require you to be out of the office frequently.
Cons
The flexibility in the work schedule comes at the cost of lower pay, especially compared to comperable jobs in the region.
Advice to Senior Management
Base hiring and promotion decisions on who is the most qualified or who has the best chance to provide the company with the most benefit.
Pros
Flexibility but like any other corporation it is clear it comes down to the bottom line.
Cons
Benefits are not very good, costly. Regis is self insured and this is expensive to the employee. If you have a cronic illness this is prob not the place for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Re-focus on employee satisfaction.
Pros
Regis has a great work life balance. The job was fun and I liked my coworkers and managers. Free food provided in the kitchen.
Cons
My biggest complaint was the low salary. It is was also very difficult to be promoted. The promotional steps are very large.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, Regis is a great place to work. I would recommend an easier route for career advancement and chances for raises.
Pros
They offer health benefits, which is hard to find in this field. They also offer up to 50% commission which is fairly competetive. They pay tips out the same day they are earned.
Cons
Even being in the Minneapolis market, corporate is very out of touch with what is happening in their salons. Getting promoted is a joke and based on the honor system-whatever the stylist enters in the computer determines their commission level and theres no way to verify if the stylist is honest. So it's very frustrating for those who ARE honest and hardworking to watch others pass them by dishonestly. The extra education is very limited and disorganized at best. Class descriptions are vague and half the time you sit through a class you've already attended. We also don't get paid for classes.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure you District Managers are actually present in the salons and helping the Salon Managers to make improvements. On several occassions our manager has been in a position where she felt inadequately supported by upper management yet there is no one to listen to her frustrations.
Pros
I was given a great deal of responsibility right away, more than I would received in any of the other companies I was considering at the time. I had the opportunity to work with senior and executive level management almost right away.
Cons
Regis Corporation puts no emphasis on developing employees and gives employees no reason to stay, offering virtually no opportunity for advancement and menial annual raises that you receive regardless of how well/poorly you're performing. You're not rewarded for a job well done nor do you receive any consequences for doing a poor job. Turnover is high.
Advice to Senior Management
Make an effort to employ and retain a higher quality workforce. It's impossible to keep talented employees when you don't compensate them well.
