    Pros

You can usually pick up more hours because people are always wanting to leave early or not work on certain days.

    Cons

District managers will not believe employees if conflict occurs with Manager. Low pay, ridiculous hours, and a lot of expectations. Salons are not maintained and stylist are responsible to do everything like replace ceiling tile, light bulbs, and everything a maintenance worker should be doing. They show favoritism to certain stylists by giving a set schedule and not others. Also, some stylists are allowed to book appointments but not all.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your employees

    Pros

The cutomer walk-in rate is high due to the fact of being located inside Wal-Mart....all tools and chemicals are provided, except for shears. If you like to "turn 'em & burn 'em" this might be a good place for You.

    Cons

Salons are run down and out dated...down right dirty. They are open 7 days a week...and on Holidays. Which is difficult if you have a family. The amount of responsibility is outrageous for the amount of pay you receive. You will work your butt off and it will not show in your paycheck. Some people think because its a chain salon, they don't need to tip. As lso upper management say that they care, but in the long run only the bottom dollar is important...not the employees!
If your just starting out in the field you can gain experience and speed....but as a seasoned stylist it is overwhelming & draining. I don't recommend it unless you have no other options for employment.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your stylists...they are in the "trenches". If they are unhappy its legitimate..figure out why and remedy it! Make your employees just as important as your sales and monthly quotas. Or your salons will be left without quality stylists and the will just become "chop shops".

    Pros

You learn a lot about hair cuts. You will also teach yourself how to be patience and calm.

    Cons

They expect you to make $200 or more a day but will have walmart print out $9.99 haircut coupons. You will make 38% of what you made the company in two weeks. You also make 0.05% of product sales. They have mangers who will talk clients out of your chair and in to theirs so that they can make all of the money. They are never on the same page, The district leader doesn't ever want to do their job.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your stylist because they can make or break you company. We deserve more than 38% for our work.

    Pros

Amazing education. Amazing stylists. Lots of resources for new stylists to learn about the industry. Great Place to start your career if you treat it like a paid internship and spend six months to a year there then go get a real job.

    Cons

You Will make minimum wage unless you work your way into a management position then you'll get a few dollars more/ hour. You will not "slide" as the call it (get raises) until you've been there at least 3 years and it gets harder as minimum wage goes up because the company won't even talk about adjusting the pay scale. Many of the salons haven't been updated in 20 or 30 years and the company has no intentions of doing that unless property management mandates it. They say their number 1 priority is the stylist but I haven't seen 1 hint of that in the companies actions, a screen saver on the office computer and a video on the website don't mean anything if your employees can't afford to pay rent!

    Advice to Management

The key to a successful salon is very simple: people don't come to "insert Regis salon here" they come to the stylist they don't come for the hot towel the come for their stylist. Listen to people talk about their hair, they say things like MY girl, MY barber, MY hair dresser...?This is a business that is built on relationships and when you have a different stylist in the salon every time the guest walks in because you have high turnover because your employees can't feed their kids on the peanuts you pay them that guest is going to start going wherever is most convenient until they find someone they can build a rapport with and that cuts their hair well and listens to them and since your pay isn't competitive I can bet that they find that amazing stylist at one of your competitors. If you really want to turn it around. You really want to be the company of choice for stylists: pay. Them. A. Living. Wage. It doesn't have to be six figures just enough that they're not living below the poverty line. Enough that they're not having to rely on government assistance to stay afloat. Trust me, you want your stock to go up. Treat your employees like people stop paying your CEO 700,000/year plus a million in bonuses and pay your stylists. They make the money after all.
