It's difficult to assess such a large company. Experiences working for RehabCare may depend on the specific facility.

    Pros

Good benefits and salary and flex time, providing for a balanced lifestyle.

    Cons

Being such a large corporation, sometimes you feel like dollars come before people.

    Advice to Management

Think more about client centered practice, not just about how many billable minutes are needed to earn a profit. This is obviously a challenge given that making money is how the company stays out of the red and offers the salary and pay it does to employees. Unfortunately, I do not always see a lot of focus on how to plan for this while taking into consideration what is best for clients.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

One on one patient care. I enjoy working with the patients and help them return function and return home again. Variety of patient diagnoses to work with, Orthopedic, CVA, COPD, Pneumonia, general surgery, general weakness. Diverse cultural staff. Team approach.

    Cons

Productivity standards are 90 % for Physical Therapist Assistants, 85% for PT's. If it is too slow, must go home early.

    Advice to Management

Compliment staff on what they do well.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My team is awesome and both Area Rehab Directors for whom I worked have been both responsive and effective leaders.

    Cons

My company has failed to renew the leases Ann upwards of 70 buildings throughout the US and many of us will be no longer employed by our parent company -- Kindred Healthcare. This is a huge disappointment and a seeming lack of return on the loyalty I gave the company.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are more then competitive. Good people who are realistic

    Cons

Recent health insurance decreases. Itouch POC is horrible. I wish they would scrap their computer system. To much paperwork with a bad try at paperless

    Advice to Management

The business is realistic. People need to realize the atmosphere. People complain about the company but they are above average. The other companies I've worked for ate not as good as rehabcare. Productivity is realistic and anyone who says otherwise is mot attuned to the industry. They want to see people and not even earn their salary. The company, besides the paperwork, is good. Beware of Reliant rehab

    Pros

Achievable productivity standards, iPads for documentation, great team.

    Cons

No scope for growth, Can be pushy to increase MedB case load.

    Advice to Management

Employees shouldn't have to make up for an entirely unproductive manager

I worked at RehabCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the relatively non-invasive management style in the corporate office. There was expectation of getting tasks completed on time but no one sitting on your back to do them.

    Cons

While having freedom was good, lack of communication and project structure left me unprepared for my next role in a company that was much faster-paced.

    Advice to Management

Adopt and implement agile or waterfall project management structures.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Opportunities for new grads or someone just getting into the rehab field

    Cons

Scheduling can be frustrating.. Inconsistent based on needs of facility. Management is often motivated by productivity and not the needs of patient or employees
