I have been working at RehabCare full-time

    Pros

Wonderful coworkers, strong team dynamic. I can't really honestly say anything else positive about this company. It was better as People First Rehab.

    Cons

Cheap company. Kindred as a whole has bought out many companies though fails to give their own employees raises or a 401k match in the past 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the local standard pay in the area because living in the Bay Area isn't cheap. The reason why the reviews of the company are so poor is because the company understaffs CNAs, hires per diem nurses who call in sick because they are too cheap to offer additional full time benefited nurses, and rehab staff are lowballed despite all the major changes of buying out other companies.

    Pros

Supportive co-workers and modest CEU reimbursement program.

    Cons

Raise freeze for about the past 4 years. Therapists are expected to build caseloads yet this is considered nonproductive time. Therapists don't know their schedules sometimes until they arrive to work so it could be a 1 hour or 8 hour day even if you are hired on as full time. Also, the insurance deductibles at very high. Management is very numbers driven.

    Advice to Management

Instead of acquiring more companies, take better care of your employees. Focus on patient care instead of productivity. Provide opportunities for career growth.

I worked at RehabCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have no pros to mention other than having a nice facility and private therapy room. Coworkers were great.

    Cons

PDs, and there were 4 different PDS in a 2 year period were all new grads with no experience and had no management skills and no idea how to manage or "direct" the program or the therapists. Therapists are not given the opportunity to make professional decisions and are "strongly encouraged" to evaluate and begin treatment on an individual who may not be appropriate for therapy. If your caseload drops then it's the therapists fault for not screening and treating residents 3,4,5 times a year. And when your not making "progress" with a resident they simply change therapists because the case just needs "new eyes". Also, when a resident isn't picked up they simply have another therapist willing to re-eval and treat stating the evaluation wasn't thorough. Productivity is rediculous as minutes spent, minutes billed to medicare, are spent documenting and writing progress notes in the session. And, minutes are ALWAYS ultra-high even if a pt is on hospice with terminal illness.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop all the favoritism and unethical practice.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

schedule flexibility, boss does not micromanage

    Cons

raise freeze, insurance benefits increasingly worse, therapists do not enjoy iPad data entry

    Advice to Management

Therapists should be compensated fairly based on years of service with the company, dedication to the job and the ability to maintain productivity standards, point of service documentation and completing all of the job functions.

    Pros

This is a company I will never work for or encourage anyone else to.

    Cons

Push their employees to see Pt's that don't need therapy to be picked up. Push extreme productivity levels. Take advantage of naive new grads to perform in questionable situations.

    Advice to Management

    Clean up your act.

    Cons

Higher management does not stand by there word. Will change policies as per company needs. Very poor Benifits package.

I have been working at RehabCare part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Will work around your schedule.

    Cons

Limited in hours, limited advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Not enough hours to support a family. Most employees are PRN and not full time. While benefits are good there are limitations for employees who are not full time.
