Vancouver, BC (Canada)

Former Employee – worked at Reitmans full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat team environment, great customers and good discount on clothes

Conslow wages, hard to move up, they tend to hire outside of the company

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote from within, higher wages,. 50% discount on clothes is great, but make it 50% off current price, in the end I am only paying a couple dollars less then customers because the items always go on sale fast.

Calgary, AB (Canada)

Current Employee – been working at Reitmans full-time for more than a year

ProsGood pay and some very good people working for Reitmans. Low stress and good hours. Lots to do but makes the day go by fast. Great variety of outfit choices, fun and good fit.

ConsLittle support from Upper Management. Poor benefits, dental covers things that you rarely need and doesn't cover those things that most of us need more often. (crowns, etc...),

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow-up more often, be available.

Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

Former Employee – worked at Reitmans part-time for less than a year

ProsThe team and manager I worked with was very welcoming and helpful; they taught me everything I needed to know. They were patient and made working there fun. Even as a part time sales associate my hard work didn't go unnoticed!

ConsYou're on your feet the whole time. It can be a long work day if you're working during a slow time of year.

Montreal, QC (Canada)

Current Employee – been working at Reitmans full-time for less than a year

ProsFlex time has been introduced so you can structure your 35 hours work week to work full time Mon-Thur and finish at lunchtime on Fridays

ConsSoul-less workplace
Entrenched staff and management - it's not uncommon to find people who have been doing exactly the same job for 15-20 years so internal advancement is nearly impossible as very few positions open up through staff turnover

Toronto, ON (Canada)

Current Employee – been working at Reitmans part-time for less than a year

Pros-Good discount
- Most of the employees are friendly and nice
- Customers are very gentle and kind

Cons- Management's terribly rude
- they tell you it's okay to not wear reitmans but indirectly force you to to buy their products
- If you don't buy their product, they give you the "talk" which leads to fewer hours in the following week.
- No respect for the sales associates, they "order" you to do everything while they are in the back room, texting/talking to their friends about personal issues.
- They almost ALWAYS forget to let you go on break.
- On-call shifts almost everyday you're working
- They except you to be knowledgeable about how things work without teaching you , and if you don't know your stuff .. they'll have a "talk"
- Reitmans' clothing designed for older/senior women, you cannot just hire young ladies and expect them to change their whole wadrobe in a month by buying out your store.
- There is very little to no advancement in here if you are looking for a long term
-

I could go on...

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with more respect and learn to acknowledge your own mistakes as well. It's not always the sales associates who mess everything up.
