Worst company I have ever heard of or worked for!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsCan not think of any

ConsEverything! From "classes" they have you do which is a huge time sink. (And talking about there horrible reviews in those classes lol) to empty promises! They let so many go if they buy out anyone! And can't replace them which makes every property short staffed! And can't get very many to stay on due to there poor business practices!

Advice to Senior ManagementRethink how your running your business! You already have a very bad reputation!!!!!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Terrible Employer

Assistant (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsLots of variety in going to different rental/condo properties throughout Manhattan each day and serving as administrative assistant; very good pay and competitive benefits package.

ConsThese people could CARE LESS about their employees - I've never experienced such lack of care for other human beings - they will not hesitate to throw an individual right under the bus in order to save the face of the company's incompetence. No one helps each other, rather, it's every person for themselves in this world!

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to your employees' needs and RIGHTS. Listen.

Horrible NJ Regional Manager, Mis-Manages her portfolio and keeps the properties in bad shape to sabotage.

    Office Manager (Former Employee)

ProsThe benefits the company offer are fair I v'e had better and the online training modules are helpful and easy to follow.

ConsDon't waste your time, you will be unemployed before your 6mth probationary period ends 10 Managers within four years, high turn over. New Jersey Properties are mis-managed and the Regional sets you up for failure to keep the focus off of her who is the real problem to the NJ sites. She rotates managers to make it seem like they cannot handle the job when she is the one who mis-managed her portfolio. The staff that's been there for years have politic their way through. O yeah if the VP does not like you, you can kiss your job good bye regardless of your education, experience and success.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf the sites are not doing well and you have hired a qualified candidate with proven abilities to perform and there is a high turn over in managers you need to look at your Regional Manager and see what's really going on. There are a lot of behind the scene business going on your not aware of which set your properties up for failure.

    NICE PEOPLE...NOT ACCOUNTABILITY...ZERO INTERNAL PROMOTIONS

Accounting/Finance (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsDecent benefit package; however, medical insurance payroll deduction very high.

    ConsNo training in key areas.
Company prefers to hire from outside than promoting from inside.
    Human Resources disconnected from reality.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to staff members.
    Remove the lazy employees.

    Professional but too stuffy

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsCompensation was very competitive, good benefits and definitely one of the most prestigious luxury rental companies in NY.

ConsManagement was unapproachable and distant. Technology, software and other tools were in disarray and in many situations employees were left to fend for themselves without much support.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to change the sterile corporate culture that permeates the company.

A bunch of racist one track minded rich a-holes that only care about themselves. Run run away!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere buildings are nice but not every person put in charge is is good leader. There takes more to being a leader than just having the title.

ConsEverything about how they manage and support their workers is crap. They tell you one thing when you are hired and it's the complete opposite when you are in.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your workers and not your piers. And also before getting rid of good employees make sure you are doing what is right. Remember people have families and everyone makes mistakes. Don't abuse your power!

    RMC overview

Senior Accountant (Former Employee) New York, NY

Pros- Work like balance seems to be fair in comparison to other real estate firms.
    - Good Company name to put your on your resume when looking for other alternatives.

Cons- The compensation at the accountant/senior accountant level can be lower than the fair market price offered by the competitors.
The senior management creates pretty bad vibe and its difficult to deal with.
    - The process of performamce reviews has not always been fair but skewed based on favoritism and politics.
-You may find yourself being micro-managed depending on who is your supervisor.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to replace the entire old RMC management crew with new fresh ideas.

Good training modules. Upper management can be stressful to deal with.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsCompetitive pay, work life balance is pretty fair, and Related also has great training modules to learn from and well as various other resources.

ConsHard to deal with upper management. Sometimes they can be clueless on ongoing work related issues and recognizing the root of problems.

Good Product, some Good People but Lots of Politics

District Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY

Pros-Good property management experience with 1st-Class properties.
-Dedicated and competent site staff at all properties for the most part.
-Company has a good name and image in the real estate business in general.
    -Benefits OK.
-Many work processes are web-based or computerized and well-integrated into a common platform.
-Top executives and company ownership are no-nonsense people to deal with. Great opportunity for exposure to this level of accountability.

Cons-Increasingly unrealistic expectations of both management personnel and site staff.
-Too much focus on policy and procedure vs. actually getting the job done.
-Most of if not all of the upper management have no hands-on PM experience, and this detracts from their ability to understand employee roles, workdays and how to best supervise the site personnel as well as do things efficiently, cost-effectively or in a time-efficient manner.
-Protectionism in the upper ranks makes everyone else dispensable.

Advice to Senior Management-Lots of dead wood that needs to go. Time in the company doesn't equate to management effectiveness.

-No work/life quality, too much extra administrative work and procedural nonsense is foisted on the lower and middle ranks. Eliminate the extra paperwork and focus on getting the job done.

-Back of house operations at many properties appear to be OK at first but closer inspection will reveal staggering deficiencies in physical plant upkeep, site staff supervision, policy adherence and enforcement as well as general building maintenance. Consistent and regular site visits and inspections will prevent this.

-Leasing operations are not on pace with the market nor aggressive enough to capture targeted clients at many properties, resulting in significant unrecoverable vacancy losses. At the end of the day, people care about what they're paying out in rent, not the move-in gifts and promotions.

-Property management is a people business, enough said. When you lose focus on or forget about the people element of it, you've become just another landlord in NYC.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
