Pros
Good pay
Very Good hikes compared to Psu's and one can earn a lot in long-run..
If money is the only concern, no engineering company will give more than this in India in the next 15yrs of career.
Cons
Bad HR dept., bad fooding facilities in Townships
Very less leaves
3/4 guys do the job 10 ppl are supposed to do.
Advice to Senior Management
Assess the talent of young graduates going the firm and learn how to use them.
Learn to train them properly.
Recruit more professionals
Pros
leader in its field
fortune 500 company
Cons
shift based job
location
no flexibility (even when no work is der)
no sense of achievement
Advice to Senior Management
proper career path should be decided for individual trainees and inter RIL shifting should be allowed depending upon availability
Pros
1) Latest Technology used in Plants
2) Good for People interested to gain experience in Production Plant. The experience can open up opportunities to work in plants in Middle East.
3) Money is fine (by Indian standards).
Cons
1) This is a production company so you would not get any design experience whatsoever, the work involved is supervisory (handling the contractors, getting work done).
2) These people are hiring engineers from prestigious institutes like IITs, NITs etc and putting them in production where the work is very mundane and repetitive doesn't require any analytical skills or any specialized skills for that matter.
3) The higher management does not have any respect towards the employees. HR simply states that "you find another job" or "you can leave if you want" whenever an employee complains about an issue like food/accommodation etc. (refer to Headline)
4) The work life balance is pathetic, they make you work for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week and when there is nothing in the township except a general shop you kind of feel like imprisoned.
5) Bureaucracy and politics among higher management for promotion etc or even for petty issues is rampant. You feel ashamed of working in the same company as these kind of people.
Advice to Senior Management
1) Total overhaul of management (specially HR) is required. Food and Accommodation facilities at Dahej township is one of the worse possible.
2) Townships like Dahej, Patalganga and Nagothane needs to be developed to the same level of Jamnagar, Hazira. (Mr. Ambani thinks that RIL consists of Jamnagar only)
3) For god sake do not hire IITians just for namesake or prestige sake. You need to have challenging tasks in order to engage them. (What is an IITian doing coming in Night shifts in Plant, even he gets tired after sometime, trying to picture as if he is mastering the technology of the Plant.)
Pros
good company to join for fresher
Cons
too much stress on job and no time for other thing
Advice to Senior Management
must take care about the stress of people
Pros
provide a good platform for learning
offer good package
biggest firm in this field
latest technology is being used here
Cons
less employee friendly
iteration rate is quite high which demotivates you to work at RIL
it don't offer any type of choice to the employees at any stage
Advice to Senior Management
there is a difference in growth and work culture of the sites which are originally IPCL for e.g. Dahej that needs an eye
Pros
Good work culture, environment and professional knowledge
Cons
I think salary increment scenario should change in case of fresh recruitments
Advice to Senior Management
Please consider change of norms in packages for fresh recruitments.
Pros
Opportunity to work with the latest developments in the industry
good work-life balance
nice office, good facilities, some of the groups have really talented people and its nice working alongside and learning from them
Cons
less visibility of your career growth
poor managers who lack competence in handling projects and motivating the subordinates
Advice to Senior Management
Decrease the number of hires and go for quality rather than quantity
remuneration be at par with the industry standards
revamp the performance management system
Pros
Refinery Operations- A very good experience as a chemical engineer
Reputation of company- Big daddy of industry
World class infrastructure- Best in class processes, technology etc.
Descent remuneration
Cons
HR policies- Not made for humans
Very partial and senseless - Feedback, promotion, PLIs
Autocratic management style
Advice to Senior Management
Make your company at least Human Friendly
Pros
pay is good, the canteen is good, world class infrastructure. it is a very good place for people who don't have much ambition and are satisfied doing the same thing for years.
Cons
reeks of inefficiency, bad middle managers, very weak talent pool. gujratis are given preference. career does not progress, no quality leadership or colleagues, limited learning opportunity, no respect for juniors, lack of recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
the culture does not encourage free thinking, or speaking up. the management's word is the last. no creativity or feeling of belonging
Pros
Big organisation..lot of mentoring available...big brand name to have on CV. Lots of good projects. Greats infrastructure and fun place
Cons
Easy to lose your identity and get into politics. Lot of deadwood's. Too much bureaucracy. Biased performance measurements in many cases.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be more rationale. Need to look into each employee as an asset and not to allow young professionals get victimized to mid-level managers politics and inefficiencies
