Pros
Decent starting pay, prospects for advancement seem to come quickly and promotions are handled internally, shouldn't be any outsiders coming into positions ahead of you
Cons
The hours are unforgivably long. You are allowed no time away from RAC, and your personal life will suffer. I never see my friends or my fiance, all for $9.25 an hour. Working outside in the elements is difficult, and a lot of the places we go are generally caked in mud resulting in ruined shoes/pants. Lots of filthy places on the inside as well. Calling and hassling customers every day all day gets very old. You are asked to deliver washers/dryers/refrigerators by yourself, sometimes into tight spaces. If it can't be done alone, you're chastised and made to feel inadequate. Did I mention the hours are long? 10-12 hour days, no Saturdays off, and management will never let you request a day off for anything. I worked 59 hours last week, and asked my manager for Tuesday off so I could see my niece and nephew 5 hours away for a day after Christmas. The answer was "That's not possible." A standard 40-hour workweek with rotating saturdays off would go a long way.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop working your employees to the bone and then keep going. There's a reason turnover is so high: People just can't keep up with the demand this job has on your body and your personal life. People don't want to eat/breathe/sleep RAC. They want a nice work/life balance. They deserve it, because they're human beings.
Pros
great pay if you can survive, nice employe purchase program, no sundays...
if you have a good manager life isnt bad
Cons
horrible upper management!!! long hours!! most stress ever!!!
no family life all work and no play... unrealistic goals that change too often
Advice to Senior Management
hire more people a store only having 5 people cant grow the business, store managers arent managers but rather crew!!! try to coach and train people rather than just fire them or force them to quit
Pros
Definite room for advancment for motivated worker
Cons
Work can be hard on hot/cold days if you are delivering
Long hours
Pros
Good pay.
Great benefits.
You get to drive a big truck around.
Cons
I hated taking away the stuff that people rented from us and having their kids asking why we are taking it away. It's really sad and depressing.
Seeing people's horrible living conditions.
Long hours.
Advice to Senior Management
I worked at a different store twenty minutes away from the store that I got moved to. I got let go because they were downsizing because I was the one that worked at that specific store the shortest time, when at the other store I worked their longer than a couple of people. I would say to let go of the employees that have worked the shortest with the company, not the shortest with the store.
Pros
i like the job a lot great hours and benefits all around could not ask for anythingbetter
Cons
nothing bad to say it is a great company im glad to be working there
Advice to Senior Management
nohing
Pros
Lots of overtime. That is about it.
Cons
Low pay, LONG hours weekly, blame always on lower end, expectations too high, no respect to employees, makes employees treat past due customers like dirt, forces employees to cover truths about pitfalls of Rent to own and lie about certain aspects, only get promoted if you butt kiss or get buddy buddy with managment.....I could just go on and on.
Advice to Senior Management
Show the employees some respect and give credit when due.
Pros
Easy job to get if you don't mind working for low pay with mandatory overtime each week.
Cons
You rent to people with no credit and in many cases within 2 weeks you start the collection process on them. Customers know if they don't answer the phone and don't open the door, eventually the stuff they rented from you will be written off. So, they pay for it for 2 or 3 weeks and then they stop.
Most store managers worked their way into that position and have no idea how to manage people.
Advice to Senior Management
When you hire and outsider to train as a future manager, stick to the plan instead of demoting him after a few months.
Pros
Good pay but if yoi you are just going to get fired a couple years later for your hard work and dedication then what is the use.
Cons
Senoir managers care more about the staff the they do the customers and when that happens customer service and ultimately profits go down and when you try to correct the managers you are told not to leading the managers to believe they and the rest of the staff are "untouchable".
Advice to Senior Management
You must get rid of the managers/employees that think their job is a joke and they can come in anytime they want and do as they please. Otherwise customer service goes down and ultimateley morale and profit. If you want to work at a place that promotes you just because they need a minority in a certain position and not based on hard work, dedication and customer service then this is your place.
Pros
Pay is rewarded for amount of work performed, promotions occur very quickly from entry to management
Cons
Once you are promoted to manager they will fire you everytime you blink, well thats what they say. they inspire by fear of lossing your job, they will not really term you they will drive you crazy thinking your job is going to be replaced, Stress Stress and no support, I had top numbers and they still found ways to "fear me into resignation or finding something else" they treat you like they collect from customers, if you dont do what they want they will threaten to take it from you. Even go as far as to promote you verbally and have you act as the position above you when the position opens "whoops, someone else was better suited" Dont work there and if you are there you are nodding yes while reading this
Advice to Senior Management
Stop threating people, start supporting them. Stop telling people they are the next in line to motivate them when in reality they have no support from above when said positions open, Stop holding people back because upper management cant replace them when the position the deserve opens.
Pros
Great pay, quick advancement and a friendly working but awesomely competitive place to be
Cons
no weekends off...at least no tuntil I reach the next promotion
Advice to Senior Management
I think they are doing a great job and I have never had any problems. I only hope to become a ditrict manager soon...perform to win here I come!!
