    Pros

Other staff are brilliant. Team work is encouraged. Promotion from within is common. Health & Safety is a priority.

    Cons

Salary is poor making it difficult to recruit and keep good staff. Workloads are very high. Communication within the business is lacking. Training is limited. Pressure and stress for lower level staff can be extreme. Although internal promotion is common there are very few routes up the ladder unless you are in sales.

    Advice to Management

Increase salary to increase the standard of prospective staff and increase the loyalty/commitment of existing valuable staff. Communicate workload increases prior to implementation. Test new ideas at ground level before implementation and be prepared to change them if proven inefficient / ineffective. Improve speed of processes to remove poor performing staff.

The people are the key to thus company everyone is friendly and it has a real family feel to it.

    Cons

The company culture is very up and down and people feared the management team as the strategic direction was always changing and projects never completed so people were frustrated with constant changing direction.

    Pros

Working at RI allows me to voice my own ideas and see them turned into changing processes. It encourages change and suggestions and is very rewarding to those who do well. They also provide thorough training and mentoring to those who need it. Regular team social events keep morale high and there's a real team spirit throughout the whole office, not just each team for their own. Theres also a free vending machine - who doesnt like free coffee, juice and soup?

    Cons

There aren't really any downsides to my job. The hours, pay, reward system, team and management are all spot on. The only thing I dont like is that we're no longer allowed to order breakfast sandwiches on Friday mornings!

    Advice to Management

Make lunches shorter, and let us leave earlier on Fridays!

    Pros

Never a dull moment! Always looking to innovate new methods and technologies.

    Cons

No apparent structure to progress, everything seems to chage from one moment to the next witha pparently little thought on consequence or communication. Whatever seems to be "flavour of the month" is pushed at the detriment to other areas of the business.

    Advice to Management

More clear communication to staff required and realistic, attainable targets need to be set for staff to follow and aim for.

I worked at Rentokil Initial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Initially the company makes you feel like there are endless possibilities and that you can make a name for yourself. However, after spending over 2 years at the company it is obvious that the graduate scheme did not deliver anything that it had promised in the job description.

    Cons

There are a large number of cons for this scheme. Before you apply for it, this is not a real graduate scheme. There is no real structure. The reality is is that you will start the company as a pest control technician, killing mice, rats and cockroaches, and work at ground level for up to 2 years. Promotions do not exist at Rentokil. You have to apply for new jobs within the company to progress, and go through the entire interview process. The job description seems to imply that you will automatically gain a promotion to either a field biologist, surveyor or team leader within 12-18 months. Again, this is false as you have to compete against other graduates, technicians and external sources for these positions. If you live in London there is too much competition to go anywhere fast, however, a few of the graduates have made these positions. Others leave when they realise that it is going to be very difficult to achieve this. Along with this, I had issues with being paid correctly and for 2 months I was not even paid and had to chase it up. I know other people have had issues with being paid commission for sales properly. My experience of management at Rentokil was terrible. Line managers and team leaders have too much work and have no time for technicians. I would spend weeks with only small amounts of contact from management. Obviously they have no time for the development of each of their technicians either. Talking to other employees also made me realise how inherently bad the management is at all levels at Rentokil, and why retention levels are so bad. In summary, I would not recommend this graduate scheme, even if it is your last option. There are better jobs out there and unless you want to be treated poorly, paid badly and have no life at all due to the vast amounts of work as you progress, then do not apply for this scheme,
